I was 11 when that season started. That was my favorite season. I thought it would always be that good. Then the Washington game hit me like a rock. They were getting crushed. Then came back and took the lead. Only to lose by a Mark Moseley FG. Vikes had a chance but Cox failed to connect. Obtw, that was a great Washington crowd. Then that record breaking in Snowy Buffalo on a Saturday. Omg, life was good. Then reality hit and it hit hard vs the Cowboys. I had a grudge against them until 1998 because of that hail Mary play, losing to them in the 1978 NFC Championship Game, trading for Herschel Walker giving rise to the Cowboys. Then came Thanksgiving 1987. Vikings with the late Wade Wilson crushed them. The same the following year. By the time they met them in 1998, the Cowboys were not that early 1990's powerful team. The 4th and 17 conversion followed by the desperation TD pass to Drew Pearson was enough to create a grudge against Dallas for any loyal Vikings fan. 🙂

as a lifelong vikes fan, best part of this vid is that it ended before the #$%^&*% hail mary! i still say this was the best tarkenton-led vikes team.. what coulda been!

The Steelers would have beaten them again. Minnesota’s misfortune in Super Bowls IV, VIII, IX and XI was that they ran into GREAT teams. No shame in losing to any of these teams.

The Vikings would have won at least two Super Bowls baby Jim Marshall would be in the Hall of Fame the Vikings would have been a dynasty.

at least 2? more like at least 4. they had the best record in their conference 6 times and the best record in the nfl 4 times
