1976 Chevy Van 10 Junkyard Find. So I will apologize up front as I totally forgot about getting the vin and looking under the hood but there was drive train and i believe I saw that it was a 76. I got a little too excited when started noticing all the cool things inside. But man let me tell you there were some cool old timey or vintage stuff in that van. It was almost like treasure hunting.

Yes, if you go back to the video you did on the 1977 Monte Carlo "lowrider" that too was from Friendly Chevrolet in Dallas, but at the time you did not have a Phillips screwdriver the right size to remove it. LOL. Looks like the same "dealer prep" guy was there in 1976-1977 and put those emblems on by drilling through the sheetmetal and installing those emblems. We never allowed that on any of cars, so none of my cars have dealer emblems on them (even stick on ones). The only car that did and I removed it was the '82 Toronado I had. My father worked at the dealer it was sold through. Our VIN here could have been C for Chevrolet, G for full size van, then Q for 305, or V or L for a 350 V8 option (as a guess, other engines were possible), then 1 for 1/2 ton, 4 for van, possibly "S" for St. Louis, MO assembly (which seems to be typical of the trucks you've found on most of your videos) and then the rest would be the production sequence. The tag on that package said, "Yamaha starter" and was likely the starter setup for the motorcycle engine you found inside the van. Those blanks with the colored heads were made by Cole Industries and found in many hardware stores and locksmiths and that's a load of keys that would fit most GM cars and trucks from the 70's and 80's as the blank codes (e.g. A, B, C, D,E, H, J, K, L, etc) "recycled" every four years. So A and B were 1979 and were also 1975, and again in 1983. The key machine you found in the back was also Cole. Looks like this person that owned the van was a hoarder/scrapper or someone that bought things at auctions or yard sales. Perhaps he was a "mobile locksmith' of sorts. Makes sense if he took the time to weld the doors shut. LOL. Those wheels are indicative of what came on some Monte Carlos of that same era.

I have those same Tonkas, they are my originals from when I was kid in the 1970s. They got thinner over the years in metal. When I was cleaning out my grandparent's house for sale (which I wound up buying part of the property anyway), came across them in the garage. They're safely back in there now too.

That bag of keys would sell for hundreds of dollars if one took the time to list them individually. They're a throw back to the 1980's when Cole International was entering into the custom key market. I have actually had a number of those colored key sets over the years. There's a LOT of value in the van as a whole with all of the tobacco tins, keys, Tonka Articulating Dozer, hood emblems etc. The previous owner must have been into antiques. That Dayton Air Compressor head, if in working order is a couple hundred...the ART emblem is just missing the "D"...so yep, it's a Dodge Dart emblem. The "Duplicator" is one of those machines that made the tests and homework papers with blue ink that every student used to sniff back in the day lol. The old medical baby scale is another great antique find. A plethora of dollars floating around in there for sure. Cheers! Zip~

It almost looks like they were collecting scrap metal in there. Motor kinda reminds me of the motor like on my Yamaha XJ 600 but i can't swear to it. Love these plundering in car videos!

Man you should restore Tonka and Nylint trucks if you have the means. Fabricate parts from tin to do one off builds. Campers, trailers... I’ve done a few. Great for the man cave too.

Up the road from where I grew up there was an small abandoned house with a ancient school bus next to it. I had some relatives (known to get into trouble) that talked me into going there. We sneaked through the high grass and got inside the bus. Inside we found a bunch of boxes full of school books and junk. But I found a real nice old chrome cap gun. I stuffed it in my waist band and we went to leave when we heard "What are you kids doing over there!" I dropped the gun and got out of there. Lol! Stupid stuff you do as a kid.

There is some stuff there that if you went to a antique salesman that they would give give serious coin for a lot of things back there. Like say three hundred conservatory dollars that would go towards whatever does turn your crank. Those saw blades are real popular at art stores as people paint pictures on them to sell. Most are blades that are new made to look old now cause of popularity and hard to find.Even that wheel would go big at a antique store. All in all, there could be and even I draw the line there as I don't look, people come to me or it don't happen. I bet that key cutter would get coin on marketplace on facebook. I don't care one way or another but when you restore a car, nice to have the money from say a toy collector for a tonka loader like quick money would be say fifty to a hundred of more but don't clean it or it seems to ruin it. Squales like those beam ones for a baby might find you fifty as well. I don't collect stuff anymore but I cleaned out a rig that a guy sold me as is an where is for five hundred and for what he wanted for that rig, I grabbed it. I made close to a thousand on the first dumpster dive and another couple hundred after a guy told me what he was looking for. I left meat on the bones so he could make good coin after too, great video, I know that you can't save it all but I think even hard hearted bosses see the value in money if you slide some their way once in while. Those key cutter machines still fetch high dollar as well

Well, I hope you opted to take those treasures - you already know about one of the channels that restores toys, so there's a few bucks there. Keys aren't obsolete yet, so maybe you could get a few bucks from a locksmith, those lamps could be rewired & you could use them or sell them. The wagon wheels(if they're a complete set & solid) could be blasted & repainted...That van could easily be worth the price of admission, & a few bucks besides. Do I sound like I watch a bit of "The History Channel"? I'd probably doing the same as those "picker" guys do, when I wouldn't be working on a car, if my current life situation was different. You never know what you'll find out there.
