RE:Steve Shit goose.. Myshkin was actually playing even better than Tretiak at this time. If you were able to score more than 2 goals in a game against Myshkin during the 1979 to 1984 period that was an accomplishment very good. During this period the Soviets had the two best Goaltenders on Earth with Myshkin and Tretiak. Had he played Montreal and Buffalo for the Red Army in the NHL Super Series 1980 instead of Tretiak I think the Red Army would have swept the Super Series. He shut out the NHL Team 6-0 the year before in the Challenge Cup at Madison Square Garden. 1980 was the weakest year for Tretiak in his career.

The Soviet Union was so good during this time that if the next best European Hockey Countries such as Czechoslovakia or Sweden played them 10 times each year the Soviet Union may lose 1 or 2 games but that would be all the Soviet Union ever losses at the most.
