Love those door panels. Amazingly simple, yet classic and elegant design that really looks great. Sometimes, "less is more".

Mr. Tony - another great video and we love hearing Mr. Larry helping you out. We also like the idea of using a grease gun to lubricate the window channels. More effective and less messy. Another great tip. Thank you. Roseann & Dan

Thanks for repair video. This actually is the same setup for lincoln all through the 90`s. I referenced your video when i repaired my 91 window pins. Only difference is the door disassemble anc no nipple to drill out for the motor. It was already attached with rivets. Your video gave me the courage this a couple years ago. I had watched other videos and took the door apart and chickened out. Not after watching a tonys car cars video. Thanks again

Thank you Tony. I was replacing the passenger side lock actuator on my Marquis and I noticed someone had installed some “import-sized” funky window motor. I couldn’t replace it fast enough with a nice reman. OEM motor.

When trying to line up those panel screws to the holes I have often used a a straight pick to get the alignment, held pressure on the panel to keep it in place, and then installed the screw.

hahaha too funny, Actually just finished changing my window motors today on my 1988 TC Cartier, same thing bad torque pins, i used JB weld to repair the torque pins in the plastic gear, took me about 2 hrs to do both sides, i had to drill them out as well... i never understood why the motors have torque pins, do you know why Tony? Great job as always!!!!
@tonyscarcare56573 ай бұрын
I've never understood what they used those. Chrysler did the exact same thing for several years.

@@tonyscarcare5657 my old 1981 thunderbird would blast through the torque pins every 2 years, i started using JB weld to fill the area back around the metal to plastic gear in the late 1990's and never had one fail again, it may not be proper but its stronger by far, the thunderbird did have a much longer glass area and a plastic track, might be why the pins failed so often.
@tonyscarcare56573 ай бұрын
Someone was offering aluminum torque pins for a while. I don't know if they're still out there or not.

I drive My 1988 Town Car Daily in a busy city in Canada, The Car has 263,000 miles and still look's like new due to my OCD maintenance and detailing, you could park it next to anyone of Tony's low mileage beauties and have no clue how many more miles are on it!! ....Recently because of newer cars and trucks having very bright LED lights, I had a couple close call's of people not seeing my car and almost crashing into it..., So after much deliberation i decided to upgrade the lighting on my Town Car, i got LED headlights and LED Coach lights, LED Brake lights, LED Front Blinkers with LED blinker module for the blinkers, and LED front Cornering lights as well, everything works perfectly, including the Automatic headlight dimmer switch, it just required a small manual adjustment on the headlight switch for the much improved brightness of the headlights, But i have one issue that may or may not be repairable, i have the Cartier model with the Digital dash, and everytime i start the Car it tells me on the message centre that all my lights are burnt out...even though they are not, its Due to LED lights have alot less resistance...lol is there anyway to fool or disconnect that particular feature or wire? , it's not a big deal, but eveytime i start it. .the car beeps and says all updated lights are burnt out....any ideas on this Tony? (id imagine the analog Town car dash would not have this issue ) If anyone else wants to do this kind of modification to the 1980's Town Car , I have to say the headlights are at least 3 times brighter than stock, as a comparison my Buddys brand new 2024 RAV 4 headlights are not even as good as these new lincoln headlights, and the rest of the LED lights are at least 2-3 times brighter than stock and the coach lights are now a beautiful Bright white.., instead of the familar dim yellowish stock ones , I was told by my car buddies the whole car looks alot better and even newer !!! since the upgrades i have not had another close call on the road.!!!! As a bonus i notice my headlight switch Runs cooler and there is less draw on the electrical system on the entire car. sorry for being so long winded Tony....PS i can't wait to see your next New Town Car,!!!!!
@tonyscarcare56573 ай бұрын
I'm sorry. It's been a rough day. I really don't know how you can fool the electronic dash to not think there's a light out. I see so many people having trouble with all older vehicles when upgrading to LED.

Hey Tony, i recently have had enough of my Floor Vent not working , as almost every Town car in the 80's has this issue with the floor setting, i recently removed the Sensor off the heater hose as it began to leak..., and then i used a small piece of vacuum line and connections to connect them together off the vacuum plug, then i made a double male end of wire on connectors to connect the wires together on the electrical plug , and now the floor setting work's when its turned on. , so nice to have everything working as i drive mine daily up in Canada here...lol its been not working the last 10 years, but was really a quick easy repair. any thoughts on making a video on this, as almost all of these cars have that particular issue..
