This guitar was designed for the D and G string to have octaves and the b and high e are unison. The low E and A string are not suppose to have octave strings. The phase only works when you have the 3 way toggle switch in the middle position with both pickups on.
@TheJeffcurran4 жыл бұрын
I know a lot about these guitars. I bought two of them. A doubleneck Supreme in 1981 and a singleneck standard in 1982. Best guitars ever. Neal Moser still makes them. He designed them and the electronics. They are not intended to be strung this way. The E and A are supposed to be singles. I'm not sure that those string guides are from the factory unless Dusty specifically ordered this guitar to be strung like this. That is also not the standard position for the pup toggle switch. This one has the correct Badass bridge. My dblnk had the flight case with a gorgeous red velvet lining.

What do you suppose that Trogly Rich is worth?8,10,12 thousand bucks?more?less?To me,that guitar is an excellent representation of a luthier eager to show how much quality one can offer in the simple instrument that is the solid bodied electric guitar. The electronic versatility alone is astonishing.Carvin strove for that,also.Alembic is noted for electronic diversity. But those custom shop Rich's...tippy,tippy top shelf instruments. Rock it! My favorite guitar shape ever! I'd love to have a black 6 string version with a Les Paul control layout. This guitar is played like a 12 string. I never put the octave G string on my acoustic 12 string because it always breaks.

Would the phase switch have had more effect if both pickups had been selected?
@MrSee-wc8oc4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it only works with both pickups on since it looks like it has to do with the way both neck and bridge phase together in this guitar's case. So every time you heard the middle position, that's the out-of-phase sound.
@MrJoe5264 жыл бұрын
yea, it doesn't have any affect in just one pickup, the phase is how lined up the sound waves are, if they add together like they normally do it boosts certain frequencies. But flipping the phase causes destructive interference, mostly getting rid of low end, and makes it have that filtered quacky sound

I love the BC Rich Bich. It's a damn sexy guitar. I have a 2012 ST 6-string hardtail. I installed a Kahler 2300C Pro tremolo & a 5514K stringlock. With the 2300, it is impossible to change pitch by laying your hand on the tremolo; it's rock solid. I love the guitar. But, it has a solid mahogany body that's a bit heavier than I'd like it to be. However, it looks, plays, and sounds great, and it's a lot of fun to play.

@@joermnyc I have had the misfortune of being the recipient of two counterfeit Kahler tremolos. They are crappie; not worth the investment, at any price. A real Kahler is practically unbreakable; bulletproof. When I finally replaced the counterfeits, the real one (bought directly from Kahler USA) weighed twice as much as the previous counterfeits. Luckily, the counterfeits were dimensionally correct. So, I was able to install it in the same footprint. The guitar immediately came to life and now sounds amazing. It's sustain is phenomenal.

Singer/guitarist Randy Jackson of the American rock band Zebra (not the American Idol/Taxi/Journey Randy Jackson) is probably the most notable for using the B.C. Rich Rich Bitch during live performances. I saw Zebra at a 95YNF Rockin' Halloween Bash at Busch Gardens in Tampa in the mid-eighties. Randy Jackson is an amazing singer and a fantastic guitarist, as well. Several years back, Randy Jackson performed in an Orchestral Tour of Led Zeppelin music, in which he both sang and played guitar over against a full orchestra. The woman who played a translucent electric violin on the tour was also fantastic. Bravo!

The BC Rich Bich is the most beautiful guitar ever made. They can sell for up to £9K which proves their collectors status as a work of art. The 10 string neck thru design was pioneered by it's creator Neil Moser. Paul Chapman of UFO used to play them which is how I got into them. I once had a cheap body art model which was the closest I got to this iconic guitar. I would dream of owning a made in USA 10 string but don't have that kind of money. Maybe one day who knows! ?

Bit of confusion here regarding the functioning of the phase switch. A phase switch basically reverses the direction in which the signal runs through the coils. However, with only a single pickup in use, and both coils switched on (not coil tapped), there is really no change made to the signal, irrespective of which direction the signal travels. Consequently, as you only tried to use the phase switch with the bridge humbucker, there was no difference in the sound. Generally, a phase switch will be used on a guitar with two or more pickups, and to function, needs at least two pickups to be switched on. The phase switch will reverse the signal of the pickup it is connected to. When combined with the signal from the other pickup, this means that some of the signal will be cancelled out (due to reversed wave forms) to create a thinner sound. Not sure if the Bich is wired this way, but if a phase switch is wired after a coil tap switch, then another effect can be achieved, and this one WILL work with a single humbucker, but ONLY when using the coil tap. With only a single coil in the pickup functioning, using the phase switch will select which of the coils is actually being used. However, the change in sound is basically the same as taking a single coil equipped guitar, and moving the pickup half an inch - it's a very subtle difference.

It looks like rosewood to me when you see the fingerboard up close. It is very dark, but then I have a Schecter Hellraiser 7 string that looks like it's got a ebony board (from a distance), but it is actually a very dark brown rosewood one. Ebony tends to have a much tighter grain. You can actually "blacken" a rosewood fingerboard to be darker still, but the pores in the wood give it away up close. Usually, ebony would be used on the "Supreme" model BC Rich's, but because this guitar was custom ordered, I guess they specified a rosewood board, instead of ebony.
