Another great tutorial! My 15hp Evinrude (1988) has the same issue, cable bulges through sheath instead of moving linkage to full open, new cable is $80 bummer, eventually we will fix it right, im new to all of this Micheal, your videos are bringing peace and understanding to my situation of being a first time boat owner 😉 thank you very much. Thanks for the update on the 20 hp Mercury outboard, I hope the drive shaft does not breaks while testing on the Good Enough boat. Great work on the throttle cable for the 50 hp motor looks like it make things much better and improvement in overall performance. Wow! Your videos are so easy to follow! I have a 1980 7.5 seahorse that the throttle is pretty bound up. On mine, the kill switch wires were cut and the kill button cap screws into the grip housing, That may take a minute to figure out how to reassemble...I'm going to attempt to splice the wires back together and get that functional again and lube the whole assembly.

👍👍👍Good video . Tiller Cleaning and lubing is a step most overlook. Until it sticks on them when they on the water. Have you ever converted a tiller to wheel steering and electric start . I just got a 20hp Johnson free from a buddy he was fixing to junk it that the till and bracket broke off he said it’s a 80’s something . I hadnt really took time to look at. It was used for duck huntin and they painted over everything. So I was thinking it might be a good project to try to convert it over. As always Sir thanks for the ride along . Keep’em coming

In the middle of putting a tiller handle on a 1994 johnson 50 hp with till and trim. Did you have to replace the neutral safety switch on yours? Also what are you going to use for start button and primer. Thinking about adding a temp gage. I have an alarm on my tiller but not sure how to wire it. Going to delete the VRO also.

Wow we must be Psychic or something? I'm working on a throttle cable on a 1992 Belguim made Johnson 3hp motor. This free motor I picked up was missing one and like you said the price of a new one is crazy. I looked at my old junk snapper lawnmower and there are two cables on it and going to see if I can fab one for this motor. Will see if it works?

Wow, great information for me, just pickup a motor 15 hp throttle froze ! It look like the same system, now I have a attack plan . The clamp compressing pin totally lost me. How can a solid pin move that much?? To let handle slide, what reloads it . Springs ? Roger in Oregon 👍😬

Just the flexible plastic gets pushed in by the pins then the handle slide free. thanks for watching

always hat e dealing with plastic stuff. age causes britillity( lol is that a word?) on that merc if it is indeed the driveshaft perhaps squishing some brass shimstock in there??? if its that audible its gotta be doing damage. but then again its an oldie. when the old dog quits running it may be time for a walk behind the shed if ya know what i mean.
