Best years of my life. Only had a Burner but rode it so much my legs would still be cycling in bed. We would be out all day, nip home to watch this then be back out buzzin, tryin out everything we just saw. As my old Grandad would say..your not young long so enjoy. Look back and SMILE RIP Neil Ruffell

Ha! I ended up with a red Burner in 1983 (may day ) I put up with those rubbish components for a while then after begging my Dad I gradually got MX Brake levers and Skyway Tuffs Mushroom grips and CW bars a hollow stem bolt cable through and a layback seat with post adaptor as the burner had a FAT seat post tube .. I SNAPPED the botom tube (easy to do on Mark 1 burners) My Dad got it welded and a support welded in as a gusset which was actually a plate shelf bracket but that frame was strong after that ... it was a bit of a short frame I thought you had to watch your knees on that stem and whatever bars as you got taller Glorious days .. I plan to do 2 things this year bearing in mind I am 48 in March ..(just realised I am replying to a 10 years old post lol) First I'm spending hard saved cash on a Ford Capri then I'm buying a Mongoose to put in the back and having a sesh up ROM skate park (to practice)

Fantastic stuff. I was there...the mad kid in blue/green on the right of the screen at 0:33. We didn't cheer Ron enough and the organisers insisted we cheered again. The editors actually never showed either cheer and chose to edit in a previous episode of the crowd cheering. In fact from my recollection this was *heavily* edited, they showed all of Neil's mistakes and few of Rons. I have lots of photos from this day BTW. Was also there when Geth Shooter beat the Americans at their own game.

It is heavily edited. I was there and took loads of photos. They showed all of Neil's mistakes and most of Ron's ramp/air manouvers. The crowd were *mad* at the decision and they tried to make us cheer again for Ron. In the end they edited to to look like we cheered - cutting in an earlier segment where we were cheering someone else.

Fortunately, Birmingham Wheels track has been refurbed and Perry Park is being built for world champs. Hello BMX... Again!!!

I was in the crowd and remember this. Seneleys Park Birmingham. It was almost like the yanks had brought the Californian weather with them. Yes a great competition and I remember the racing was just as good. I know it is very different to today but back then this was BMX at its best. I would love to see if I can still do some of the stunts but I’m 50 years old now!

How funny would it be if someone like Chase Gouin, Day Smith, or Phil Dolan entered with their amazing level of flatland skills that nobody had ever seen before? I'd love to see the look on everyone's face, hear what the commentator said when he saw the first spinning deathtruck, and see the judges come in their pants :)

Jesus, I remember back then thinking all that was amazing but it doesn't even compare with what kids do on the street nowadays let alone the pros. Still cool stuff tho. Was this filmed behind Two Wheels in Birmingham? Anyone know? Lloyd
