The NFL today is like a combination of flag football and arena football, it's a joke. You can't relate to the players, they don't have the aura about them like you really want to meet them. Norv Turner and Charlie Casserly destroyed the Redskins, Snyder actually improved the team a bit from that point although I wouldn't say he has done a good job. The Redskins from 1993 until Snyder bought the team was the biggest joke in the league. I can't think of a decent draft pick during that time. Although Michael Westbrook had a good season eventually. We even had a first round draft pick that ended up cut before opening day. Snyder shows up and started demanding players be cut for bad performance and the Millionaire players who cashed a Redskins check in free agency just to make a joke of the game started to straighten up.

This was the last time the Redskins beat the 49ers until 1999. The 49ers went on a 7-0 run against the Skins after this game including two wins in the divisional playoffs in 1990 and 1992. I know this because my dad was a huge Redskins fan and he loathed the 49ers with a passion. He never explained why other than to say he thought they were arrogant. I think he might have also held a life long grudge against the 49ers beating them out for team of the decade during the 1980s. He told me repeatedly that beating the 49ers was more important to him than beating Dallas. If they lost to the Cowboys he'd be upset for a day or two and then move on to next week. If they lost to San Francisco he'd stew about it all week long. When the Redskins finally broke the streak in 1999 to win and win the NFC East, to my dad it was better than winning the super bowl.

Notice how the scoreboard is only shown 4 or 5 times during the game. Nowadays, there's constant overlays.

So you rather not know the score? Having the score up in the corner is better plain and simple

This was the most disappointing season for the Skins during that era. It was arguably the best team they ever had. They beat the defending SB champion Bears at home in the playoffs, but then Bill Parcels and the Giants ruined it. They would have easily won the Super Bowl if they didn’t get stopped one game short, and they would have matched the 49ers with 4 rings. The NFC was completely dominant in the 80s. That was the peak of the NFL.

Redskins had such a cool nfl logo and now it’s so vanilla and plain. Just like their new name
