On a recent trip to Ohio I noticed a misfire at idle that seemed to get better as RPM increased. Watch to see the diagnosis.

I like these kinds of videos. Sucks for you of course, but at least you end up with good instructional material for others.

Bro that black out ending reminded me of a mid 1990's episode of COPS👍 I've been watching all your videos to learn about my 22re, thanks AlexMan!

Great video! Youre a smart young man. My 86 just started skipping on one of the cylinders. In the process of diagnosing now. I have ruled out plug or spark

Mine has a similar problem. Running rough and misfiring from cylinder 4. I tore it down and found the culprit, a crack in the head at the round coolant passage between cylinder 3 and 4 which was causing a one way leak into the combustion chamber. Also found the source of the knock I was getting ... cylinder 2 has a rod knock so the block is coming out next.

I had an 86 that did the same thing to me after a rebuild. Somehow the rings managed to work themselves into a position where it was letting the compression past them. I drove myself crazy before I found out that was the problem. I hope you get it solved.

Bummer man. All that blow-by maybe head gasket between cylinder and oil passage? Good luck man. I love your 4runner vids. Got an 86 myself.

Well that sucks. Harbor Freight has small inspection cameras for decently cheap, maybe think about picking one up? You can stick it down the spark plug holes in the head, and inspect the cylinder. If it's not chipped or broken, probably worn rings, I'd check the oil for shavings and just drive on it for a little while...

The oil looks normal on the dipstick and under the filler cap. I haven't drained the pan or cut open the filter.
