@nightowl8936 I don't think he stayed behind the pace-car that long. Afterwards, you can see him on our left of the screen running BESIDE the pace car. Anyways, wind-resistance isn't a big factor when you're running as opposed to cycling. The faster your speed, the more the wind-resistance.

the road is open to all runners there were no cones for them to stay in. he didn't cut the coarse. and Mark was done he couldn't have caught him even if he want'ed to.

Mark Allen miscalculated his strategy to put he hammer down throughout the marathon sealed the deal...to allow Scott to catch him ....

In "Iron War" Mark admits seeing Dave passing him. He was aware of that, but he couldnt do sh*t. Mark shouldn't have taken the lead so early. The race is where Dave Scott is - Mark corrected himself two years later :)

@abcdrcill1 He stayed behind the pace car long enough to slip by Mark Allen. As I say, thats a bit weak on Dave Scott's part. He should have stayed in the open and not attempted that kind of subterfuge. Then it would have been a race the whole way, as it was two years later in 1989. But given Allen's condition at the end, Dave Scott was gonna win in 1987 no matter what. And yes, I know that he was not attempting to draft behind the pace car or gain advantage that way.

I think this is the race that Mark was having some internal bleeding!

I think the 5:15 slipping by under cover of the pace car is a bit cowardly. I don't think that he should have been allowed to pull a stunt like that.
