1989 dodge dakota replacing the radiator and thermostat

Cannot believe you uploaded this a week ago. I'm stranded waiting on parts for a 1989 Manual Dakota and I have a feeling I'm doing this changeover in a parking lot. Thank you so so much.

I appreciate these videos. Inherited an 87 Dakota. Runs pretty good still though it has some idling issues. Did the brake drums. Had it fall off the lift onto the brake lines. Ouch! But they seem OK, amazingly. Definitely need to change the valve covers, so thanks for that video too. Merry Xmas.

Looking for drawing / blowup for 1989 318, have taken the water pump out, but to do so have to remove compressor, alternator, and the plates they mount to, then take the plates off the piump ..kind of a 3 tiered effort..anyway, when removing bolts, some spacers and such fell loose, need drawings to view where all the parts go. Cannot find info in any manual .......

Have you checked vacuum lines for leaks? I know mine has a small leak so it runs crappy when it's below freezing until the engine is warm

@@Kerrage yes I have a few but my main problem is I changed water pump cause it was over heating and now it’s still overheating I’m gunna replace thermostat tonight when I wake up sadly I work nights hit and have to work at night on vehicles but I mean it’s like my pipes and stuff are stiff cause how much pressure so idk if my head gasket blew or what either any recommendations?

@@trystenruiz3012 thermostat is a cheap and simple thing to do, but are you loosing coolant?

@@Kerrage so my thing is my coolant reservoir was at max but I noticed since it started doing this overheating and bad pressure mind you I only drive it 2 times a day and only 20 minutes each time to work it starts to leak out my radiator so idk if that’s where it all went cause reservoir almost empty now next paycheck ima replace my radiator cause it’s old now everything on truck is original from 89 I got it from a load who I used to mow her lawn as a kid when she passed away and she was only owner and kept good care of it till 2009 cause fuel pump went bad and she didn’t replace it so I got it that’s all I did besides tie rods spark plugs tires and brake calipers also any tips to finding where my vacuum leaks could posibly be coming from also ran my codes on it couple days ago says nothing bout over heating but says it’s running rich so idk I’m stumped man hopping this thermostat will fix it

@@trystenruiz3012 hard telling with what you've told me, if the radiator is leaking then I wouldn't think its a head gasket unless the blown gasket has over pressurized your system and blown it, mine just randomly got a hole in it but it's kind of my beater, so I definitely could have caused it. Normally if the system is getting over pressurized though it would add pressure to your resivour and thats where it would leak, but have you made sure everything is full and there wasn't an air bubble trapped? Because then you could have just had a lack of coolant and it pulled from the resivour like it's supposed too, I'm just making sure the simple steps that can be over looked were covered like taking the rad cap off and verifying it's full and then topping off the resivour
