I have owned same fastback white stick shift 827Sli from 97 till 99. Loved it. I was 21years old at that time. Drove it from Largo FL to Chicago back then. 100-120MPH highway drive was no problem. I once tried top speed and at night on my way from Tampa it went over 150MPH. Yes it is Honda powertrain. It was faaaast car back then. I have always liked the interior. Sold it to a crackhead here in Chicago, who never finished paying it off to me. Then found it last time at Junkyard. Long time ago. Nice memories

I personally love how these interiors are designed.

Interesting car especially seeing that interesting seat cover in there. great job. At first glance it almost could have looked like a Ford T-bird that front end.

I dread to think how short-lived these would have been with the British made 2.0 four-cylinder that most of their native brethren had to suffer.

The Sterling was the Yugo of the luxury car segment with the poor build quality, poor electricals, and just overall shoddy workmanship.

Only in the first couple years when the poor workers were still lumped with all the old ex-Leyland stuff. They sorted them after the first two years but by then the reputation was damaged. The facelifted version ended up being a big seller throughout Europe. Change the badge and actually sell it as a Rover to distance it from the Stirling and it probably would've done quite well.
