When people actually do maintenence like replacing the nearly 30 year old glow plugs and the relay they should start just like this without any cosby sauce. 7.3's get a bad rep because of others laziness. Love the truck man

Those were good motors. Used to run a 87? as a company truck. Thought nothing of getting in it and going on a 500 mile delivery route.... several times a week! It had 350k on her last I drove it and I saw it on the road for years after I was gone. My brothers neighbor ended up buying it and he ran it for who knows how long! I have the 6.0 now. It's been bulletproofed. It's pretty good and lots of power but I know it won't make it to even 200k without a catastrophic breakdown

Excellent motors, I daily drive this truck and with 290k on the odometer It’s still got a lot of life left in it. Once you take care of any air intrusion and the GP and GPR plus a good set of batteries your good to go. I’ll drive this truck across Canada any day

I just bought a 92 7.3 idi. It takes a while to crank over and takes a while to smooth out. Sometimes I have to try to crank it over 3 times. Could this be a fuel issue? Maybe new glowplugs?

@bricknoseford81672 жыл бұрын
They come stock NA, but there are aftermarket turbo kits. I went with the banks Non waste gated turbo setup. Turbo is a little Undersized but Makes a huge difference on the powerband. The truck was really slow without the turbo install. Plus You can turn the fuel up and really get er going. I wouldn’t trade my IDI for anything else out there. I’d say purchase it as soon as you can
