1992 Kenmore Direct Drive Washer - Work Clothes & Darks

Originally recorded April 22, 2021.
Enjoy a load of my work & dark clothes in the 1992 Kenmore 70 series direct drive washer!
High water level, warm/warm, 14 minute wash on Heavy Duty.
Detergent is FOCA powdered, fabric softener is Melaleuca MelaSoft Spring Breeze.
And of course expect nothing less than an absolutely perfect warsh!
And yes, I know the machine is a little dirty, I plan on giving it a full cleaning and stuff when things warm up a little more (probably sometime next month), and I can get a spanner wrench as well as all the parts on order to fix my '86 Kenmore.

These machines did exactly what they did, no auto sensing or filling, no spinning the tub when filling, they just filled, agitate, drain and spin.

I have the same exact washer i got online for $40. Washes clothes WAY better than any newer washer ive used (even laundromats). It washes comforters with ease and always gets my whites WHITE. When it says high water level, it means high water level. Never gonna find a better washer than this one

Your washer did a great job! It washed/rinsed/spun without any trouble whatsoever! I wish the direct drives were still being made! I have a Maytag Bravos XL 5.3 washer with the washplate and it is very finicky!

I heard that Whirlpool doesn't sell the transmission rebuild kit now ? You would have to buy the whole transmission and from what I hear they are louder and don't last as long. Of course.....Whirlpool wants to banish these to history. Probably the most produced automatic washing machines by ANY maker in the U.S in the last 74 years.

@@patcola7335 Yeah I saw that too. For now, ebay has them, and in fact I should probably source a new one or two, I might need them before too long. We'll see what happens with that, if they start phasing out more common parts like motor coupler, pump, clutch, agitator dogs, THEN we're in trouble. Probably, from what I understood, there were over 100,000,000 of them made in the 30 or so years they were being manufactured.

Awseome I gather you own 3 of these beautiful direct drives? This the 1986 and 2000 whirlpool with this being your main one. These machines are some of the best

Thanks! And that's correct. In fact I just did a full disassembly & cleaning of the 2000 Whirlpool since I was able to acquire a spanner wrench and get the tub out, which resulted in a WHOLE conundrum with the brake assembly on that one. All of which, you will see more of in an upcoming video!

Yeah that one didn't end up lasting and now I use a red solo cup instead. Doesn't deteriorate under the water over time.

That's why I ditched the Amana for the Estate. I'm actually getting my work clothes dirty now. The cleaning of these DD washers speak for themselves.

@@lizboz Thanks man. I'll just make new videos and transfer the ones I have on my OneDrive account. Real PITA to say the least. TMobile couldn't help me and I tried all different combinations I could remember but to no avail. Some things are meant to be I guess.
