It idles smoother and has great power.... one thing i noticed was that there is no air filter on what i would think is the air cleaner housing. Is this normal, do these motors not run an air filter at all?

If your OCD gets the best of you as it has done myself. Simply buy a mesh screen (more durable than fiber) and epoxy it onto the holds on right side (starboard) of engine... if you have the plastic breather cover. Just make sure whatever you get will allow air at a sufficient rate. Another option to avoid anything going into the intake breather hole(s) is to install some sort of filter at the breather hole on the engine cover itself. If you have a good deal on the gasket located on bottom of the removable part of engine cover, that will eliminates by chance of debris finding its way in their.

Great video. I did this to my E40TLESR last year. Works good but the VRO (variable ratio oil) would adjust oil/fuel based on rpm. Now getting 50-1 full time means too much oil at idle. (Smokes like hell). The VRO would adjust to 100-1 at idle then 50-1 at full throttle.
@BrandonsGarage5 жыл бұрын
But think about it... you're at idle, then you full, or heavy, throttle it to get moving, for a few seconds you're running at a high RPM while the carbs, and fuel lines are all filled with 100:1. Do that long enough, you'll have premature wear that wouldn't have happened on 50:1 premix.
@josephm405 жыл бұрын

The main point of it all is to do away with any possibility of either the sensor going bad that tells you it’s not mixing, which is yet another part that could go bad. Also, it eliminates the chance of the VRO system simply not doing its job. It could get stuck at 100:1 and you not know it. It’ll run, till it doesn’t. Too many possibilities that are simply too easily avoided by spending $30 on a complete fuel pump kit and of course you get the few hours of time away from the aggravating youngans and mouthy wife 😂

@@BrandonsGarage i haven't checked compression. Run me through how to properlydo that. Also, do you advise getting rid of the vro pump and replacing with a fuel pump like your video shows? What is the advantage other than making more room?

What was the reason for the VRO Why now just do the gas/oil mixture
@BrandonsGarage4 жыл бұрын
Its inconvenient, VRO mixes it for you.
@clintonmclimore83705 ай бұрын
All this isn’t necessary all you gotta do is unhook oiler and plug it and plug it off at fuel pump

removing the vro pump assembly is a bone head move.

Why is it a bone head move?
@brucegasper70658 ай бұрын
You just go ahead and keep your complicated VRO and wait for engine failure.. It will fail..And it will ruin the engine. The warning system will likely not save you either..Anytime you can get rid of overcomplicated, expensive technology..The better off you are. Motors did without all this crap for a century.. And they were rock solid without it..
