This is a car for grown-ass American men. I was in my '88 5.0 Mustang going down the highway in Austin on a Friday night. I looked up and I was door-to-door with one of these. We swapped unfriendly looks. The highway splits with the left 2 lanes going lower level and the right two upper-level express lanes (no exits). The whole thing rejoins about two miles down. Once he went out of sight I gave it the gas. I was gonna blow that sumbich away and be in south Austin before he could even get to the remerge. I was a rocket, 80-100 in a 55 zone the whole way weaving in and out of traffic. At the rejoin we were door to door! We looked at each other and busted up laughing! For the next 10 miles, we took turns pounding our V-8s. I jumped off the highway and we saluted each other. Never forget that maroon SS.

My first car was a 94. Sold it and regretted it. Bought a 96, love it, never getting rid of it. Always loved this cars, they are a pleasure to drive. Very comfortable, adequate acceleration and a unique style.

I know your comment is 3yrs old but figured I’d ask. Do you prefer you 96 or the 94 that you had? Is it much difference to drive?

Same. I had a 1994 and foolishly sold it....regretted it forever. Recently picked up a 1995. Also never getting rid of it....

For the record the floor shifter is the only difference between 95-96 and mirrors. So those are more sought after.

I remember the first time I saw the 94. Love at first sight. My ONLY complaint was no five speed on the floor. I could not believe it!! For me, putting an automatic in this beautiful machine would be like drinking decaf coffee.

Would've been perfect. I was born on 95, I'm 24 years old now and I plan to buy myself an Impala SS, they're rare here on México but there's some few good ones around. First thing I want to do is swap the tranny for a manual one!

Easily one of the best all-around cars GM has ever made, and probably one of the best all-around cars that have ever been made period. It isn't the best at anything, but it does everything very well. It has the size to haul anything possible in the truck, the size to haul 4 full-size adults comfortably, the ability to be comfortable on long road trips, a 23-gallon tank (getting upwards of 24-25 highway mpg) meaning you can go well over 500 miles on a tank, and enough power to stretch its legs up to the 145 mph top speed from the factory. With some modern improvements under the hood, these cars can make massive power for cheap. I will always miss the times when GM slapped a corvette engine into an 18-foot car monster and called it a day.

I am a 7th Gen Impala enthusiast. I have owned a 1994 Impala SS, (totaled), and currently own a 1996 Impala SS. It is strange to me that @shooting Cars mentions the difference between an Impala SS and a regular Impala at 3:55 in the video. As most enthusiasts know, the 1994 through 1996 Impalas were ALL SS's! There were no "non SS" Impalas in that generation. They were either a true Impala SS or a regular Caprice Classic. Have many folks changed the badging or mods on their Caprices to make their cars look and perform like the Impala SS, sure, but they are not true stock Impala SS's. Thanks.

Any info on long term reliability and what to watch out for in used cars?
@bricegraham82562 жыл бұрын
I think they're pretty reliable. We have one at the shop right now with 343000 miles. It's really nice to drive. I really like them in their stock form. Just hope you never have to change out the power window motors/regulators. A common issue with these is that the windows will do a shark fin type thing and to fix that you gotta change out the roller that right on the window track. The motors themselves don't go out very often but if your one of the unlucky ones, then yeah your in for a rude awakening.

Yes, they are. The only thing is becareful of bumps and potholes because the gas tank is below the rear of the vehicle, so you don't want it to leak or crack. Since you put fuel behind the license plate frame.

It's definitely a 94. The mirrors are set back on the door not in the corner like 95 and 96. Also, there is a plastic cover over the side rear windows where the Impala decal is located.95 and 96 body style was changed to accommodate the decal.
