I remember very well these were everywhere. These Blazers and Ramchargers were great at everything except gas mileage. My older brother bought a new 1977 Blazer with a 400 small block V8 and fulltime 4x4. At the time those white spoke wagon wheels were popular so he bought a set with some 31/10 50/15 tires on it. We drove from New York to Virgina with it and we had to stop for gas every hour.

With all the V8, body on frame SUVs on the market today, it surprises me there is not a single 2 door like the Broncos and Jimmys of old. BTW I have an Eddie Bauer winter coat of the same age. 😁

people always say they only make like 220bhp ok with a windsor v8 all you have to do is swap the cam, heads, and intake and you can double the power output to modern amounts of power.

1996 was the final year for these Broncos before being replaced by the Expedition. I don’t think this necessarily lead to their loss in popularity, but this generation Bronco became known for being the kind of vehicle in the O.J. Simpson police chase in 1994. I think it was more a matter of declining popularity in 2-door SUVs, because who wants to have to move the front seats in order to get in the back?

A very clean truck. If it's unrestored, I'm impressed with how well it survived. I love the tasteful mods and color-matched fender flares. These trucks are worth stupid money now because people want a basic, rugged, yet comfortable truck. The only problems are the fuel economy and the rustproofing. If you go back even before the term SUV was invented, the Jeep Wagoneer/Super Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer was considered the 4x4 Cadillac. I consider it to be the first luxury SUV.

I'm about to inject my knowledge of old Ford. The Explorer did not replace the Bronco. The Explorer replaced the Bronco II. The Expedition is what replaced the Bronco. But those the Expedition and the Explorer had Eddie Bauer models.

The one white Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer from California is iconic because of the OJ Simpson slow speed 90 min chase in 6-17-1994, and I'm looking for one like it. But the gas mileage was not good with the 5.8 liter V8, it meant to be driven on weekends, never a daily driver.

I spent a lot of time driving fleet Customs and XLTs with 302/automatics back in the early 90s. They took a beating, but would go over terrain faster then a similar stock blazer or Ram Charger because of the IFS. Handled pretty decently on the highway too. Too much off road that causes frame flex would result in cracks in the floor board and cowl. Sort of weird to feel the floor flexing under your heel as your foot’s on the gas pedal going over terrain. Later ones in the fleet got Rancho suspension components and held up much better. But I loved these things. Almost bought survivors a couple of times but couldn’t come to terms on price. Hard to pony up hard earned cash when you have a lot of experience and know what wears and what breaks without getting a good price.

If yoy ever want one of these never get an automatic. Worst automatics ever built, shelf life of 150k miles or less. Manual + 300 i6 is the way you want it! Beautiful machine either way
@cptchuff27419 ай бұрын
Broncos didn't come with manual transmissions after 1992. The autos aren't bad I've seen them hit 300k if you didn't drive like a madman. The 5.8 V8 was also more powerful and better for towing which makes more sense if you are getting a truck.
