Huge fan of the color and the interior of the Saphire blue XK8's.. I have a 2001 and it was that color combination that got me.. It's a gorgeous car and I get compliments on it constantly.. Best leather seats I have ever sat in to be honest.. And with the top up it is a solid and quiet car..

Back in the early 2000s or so late 90s that were near ending, car reviews had more enthusiasm and more humor but now car reviews have that, but without enthusiasm just generic humor it seems

The bonnet vents weren't needed at all, it was styling that insisted on having them. Powertrain didn't want them as water got into the engine bay when it rained.

You couldn't be more wrong with that. The XKR needed the vents in order to keep the supercharger cool as they're known as Heaton superchargers, I see the heat rising through the vents in my 2001 xkr. Also they add downforce affect when hitting hight speeds to improve better handling and tbh it needed something to stand out from the already loved XK8, jaguar and ford did a smashing job on this platform and powerplant. It has it's issues but thanks to KZbin, reviews and DIY it can be fixed. Also they're are no electrical units directly under the vents just the supercharger. Ignition coils have a cover over them and throttle body is at the back of the engine so I don't get your point there either.

@@xkr-mat - I was working for Jaguar in the engine development department at the time; the vents ar cosmetic. - Downforced from those vents will be negligible. - Yes, it was styling that put the vents in, to distinguish it from the XK. - Ford didn't have anything to do with the platform or the engine, other than give/lend Jaguar the money. - The belts are under the vents, which is where the water can cause problems.

I BOUGHT A 1990 XJ12 4 DOOR IT HAD LESS ROOM IN THE FRONT THAN AN MGB huge car zero room and the side windows in the front were allmost shoulder height and i am 6 foot tall., nice car terrible build. I would buy one of these things no problem.
