Well done. Pesky rocker cover bolt, which drill bit (or bits) did Dad use to drill out broken extractor? I am in the same boat as I write this and would really appreciate your input!!! Note: A 1/4-inch Milwaukee diamond hole bit has been suggested. What do you guys think? Thank you, Jim

Rain, roosters, Hawaii? When I heard the rain on the sheet metal/tin roof, then heard the rooster, the first thing I thought of was Hawaii. I lived in Hilo for a year back in 1989. Good video. Real world, no fluff!

When that one screw broke on you, I was like "shoot, hows he going to fix this one" Smart idea just drilling it out. Makes life way easier than trying to tap and die it.

Aye bro what did you take off to get to the head gasket ? Like the stuff on top if it🙏🏽 studying for a job coming up this Tuesday 🙏🏽🙏🏽
@MuddyDrivewayProductions5 ай бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. It was just the Valve Cover. Spark plug wires and intake and some wires attached. In order to get to the Head Gasket you would need to remove the Head.

I was only confused on one step you did: I was not sure why you struggled with the PVC valve and grommet since you had the cover off already. Would it have been faster and easier to hammer down on the PCV valve and let it drop through then cut the grommet on top side a bit to pull down on it from inner side of cover? Would that be another way to go or did you hit a wall trying it that way?
@azulmarinoify11 ай бұрын
No isn't possible, see it from inside
@waitingtohear11 ай бұрын
Right... I only realized this once I took off the cover and saw that the valve cover is not open ended. There is a separate compartment area that the PVC valve falls into with no access. Too bad they didn't add a rubber cap to pop off from the inside to deal with it easier. My PVC valve fell into the compartment and I had to cut off the top grommet to get enough room to grab the PVC valve with tools, and pull it out to replace it.

Sometimes you can re torque the bolts and stop it leaking if the gasket isnt fully gone

Thanks bro your video helped out a lot!!
@richags3283 жыл бұрын
not routinely changing pcv valve with every oil change causes valve cover gaskets to fail, positive crank ventilation lets the engine breathe...when they clog up air has to escape somewhere and that somewhere is through the valve cover gaskets...bout $3 for new pvc valve well worth it at each oil change

Great video thanks. I will be attempting this also, but I noticed in the Haynes manual there is no torque specification. It just says, “torque specification not available, tighten securely, but do not over tighten.” Did you tightened to a specific torque spec? Thanks.
@MuddyDrivewayProductions6 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. Mine does not give the torque specs also but it does say "Tighten the bolts to the torque listed in this Chapter's Specifications in three or four equal steps". I tightened to what I though was okay. Thanks for watching and commenting.
