It might be a consequence of the transmission setup, but it's certainly the engine making that sound. This is the audio detail missed in most simulators. There are a few that get it right and it makes the experience so much more enjoyable.

Air shifter, like all the F1 cars have. This engine is from a F1 V10 but worked for endurance. Less rpm, etc. This fluttery is just because the air shifter, that is much more cost than the traditional quickshifter in sequential gearboxes.

It's not even really that much faster. In Le Mans '92, which this car won, it went 2974.6 miles (4787.2 km). In Le Mans '89, the winner was the Sauber-Mercedes C9, which went 3271.6 miles (5265.1 km). Thats further than Le Mans '21, which the Toyota hybrid won, going 3140.7 miles (5054.5 km). The Group C cars operated on different rules more than different speeds.

GuyWhoLikesTheSnarkies14 that’s because it is a F1 V10. @@nevercommitsuicide yes they were detuned for endurance racing. The FIA made the engine specs almost identical between the top endurance class and F1 arguing it would control costs since the engines were already developed. Sry for the maybe dumb question. In many video of older racecars, the mechanic revs up the motor pretty often in short period of time. Is there any reason for doing that? sry for my bad english
@19Bozzy924 жыл бұрын
They did that procedure to warm and get the engine ready before heading into the track. Most of the old race cars (but also the modern ones) simply need to be started up, leave them in idle for a couple of minutes waiting for water, but mainly, oil temperature to grow up, and then gently give some revs to increase the temperatures to the optimal value. This allows oil to have the correct viscosity to better lubricate the engine when the car hit the track reducing the risk of any unwanted, excessive wear inside the engine. For special high revving and high level race engines (F1, DTM, Indycar and many others) they are generally pre-heated by a pump system linked to an external heater that allows water and oil temps to reach a defined value. When reached, these pipes and pump system are removed and mechanics start the engine to further warm it up (and even the gearbox) at the right operating temps. Since these engines are built with very tight tolerances, they may not even start at 'low', ambient temperatures due to frictions between the various components. Badly said it's like the warm up you do (or should do) before doing any kind of exercise to let your muscles and joints be ready in order to reduce the risk of injuries and sprains as soon as you start your workout/match.
