I am a parts manager and have been in the parts industry for almost 20 years. What I've learned is that all vehicle manufacturers seek out parts manufacturers and buy their parts to put their OEM branding on it and sell through the dealerships. Toyota, Nissan, Honda, etc, do not have huge manufacturing plants making spark plugs, ignition coils, starters, alternators, seals, o-rings, brake pads and rotors. They get NGK, Denso, Aisin, NOK, Brembo, Bosch, Akebono to make OEM parts and offer them to you in a branded box with a guarantee to fit and the OEM warranty. So when I buy for my Toyotas I stick with the OEM brands. I haven't had any problems except with the money I save I just buy more parts. 😁

SORRY, NOT TRUE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A PART IN A TOYOTA BOX IS SPECIFICALLY MADE WITH TOYOTA SPECIFICATIONS. FOR EXAMPLE A KOYO REAR AXLE BEARING, ONCE INSTALLED TO THE AXLE IS TIGHT, WHILE A TOYOTA BEARING (KOYO BEARING INSIDE THE BOX) ONCE INSTALLED SPINS SOFTLY. I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE IN HONDA AS THOSE ARE JUNK AND NEVER PLAN TO OWN ONE.

Fun fact: Where you really notice a difference in most ignition componants is under a load. Yes, of course it can effect idle as well. But if you look at the spark event on an oscilloscope before changing componants, then after, you will almost certainly see a visible improvement in the spark event. Nice presentation, thank you.

I’m assuming that, possibly, one or more of the old coils could’ve been arcing to the engine before reaching the plug. Seeing as one of the coils had major cracks and a few had burnt silicone boots.. I’m wondering if that’s possible and/or was actually happening? If so, new coils would definitely help the engine overall including idle wouldn’t you say? Thanks for commenting! 👍

If you don’t have a bidirectional scanner, disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 minutes. That will rest the fuel trim faster than just from regular driving, keeping the plugs cleaner. As others have suggested, cleaning the throttle plate should help as well, then do power reset.
@IanSRutter20 күн бұрын
Really good video. With the old and new coils mixed the engine would try and balance the air fuel mixture ratio to get a great combustion. With the new coil packs in, the engine will detect a great spark/combustion and then will have to relearn the air/fuel mixture rate, that's why it was running a little fast at the beginning. If you clean the throttle body it will run fast, sometimes up to 2000 rpm and can take up to a week to learn, but will settle down. I did this on my Land Cruiser and all is fine and running smooth. Great video and keep up with the good work.

Hack: Where you used the 1/4 drive with universal joint on the coil mount bolt, try wrapping the Uni joint with 1 to 2 wraps of masking tape. It will keep the universal from flopping around and still be plenty flexible. Use this anytime you use them. My 1/4 and 3/8 drive Uni's stay taped. For novices, always remember that you need to use an extension with a universal joint and an impact universal and impact extension with an impact gun. If you use your regular stuff with and impact, universals will break and the chrome will chip off your sockets. Word.

Hello @1Road I have a question I have a 96 k2500 suburban and I recently changed the battery on on because one day out nowhere the truck would not start it felt like if the battery had Died I bought new one and this like my 3week with and yesterday and the day before it would do the same thing I would turn the turn the key and it would just give me a click like if the battery is dead in thought it would be alternator but but the alternator looks new 😅 I unscrewed the battery and screwed the blots back in the red wire that connects to the battery had a lil bit of play I don’t if that normal I tighten the bolt tho but soon after moving the cable back forth it turned on like nothing happened if I may be able to gain some knowledge from you to and tell what am I doing wrong here thank you very appreciated 🙏 and happy holidays
@YouSpamTard2 ай бұрын
Did it start working again after you fooled with the cables? Those cables have to be tight. It is sometimes difficult to tighten that style connector you have. Sometimes the little bolt for the battery cable strips out and you have to replace the bolt with a part from the parts store. If there is any corrosion on the battery cable that should be scraped off with a small screw drive or wire brush. The one click no start you describe is often a lose battery cable. Other times its a bad starter. If you have a battery gauge on the dash board, and im pretty sure you do, that should read at least 12 volts with key on and the engine off. It should read about 14 volts with the truck running. Good luck and God bless.

In the many postings leading up to this latest one, many comments posted were against the use of aftermarket parts, including me? Why? Those of us that owned and maintained Toyotas know the quality of vehicles but also the quality of parts used to keep Toyotas running for decades. Now, you have a 4 Runner, a well made SUV that is known and coveted by millions of people. However, you also own a 4Runner that has the infamous 2UZ-FE 4.7 liter V8, one of Toyotas best engines in decades. When you finally return this fine vehicle back to its former glory, then you’ll understand why those of us were so disappointed when you used Dorman and Moog parts 😅😅😅
