Donkey Kong Country 2 being number 1 is a huge W. That is in my top 10 favorite games of all time and considerably contender for top 5. Game is just so phenomenal in every way and has what I consider the best video game OST collection of all time. Though I wish Donkey Kong 64 could have gotten much higher as while bloated, it was exponentially fun and had so much challenge and variety.

Even though I'm a Sonic and Mario Fan, I do love Donkey Kong as well especially Donkey Kong Country plus I even remember the show in the 90s with the same name. I wish they made more Donkey Kong Cartoons because it's been a long time since they made these cartoons based on the games and I'm happy they made Mario vs Donkey Kong this year as well.🐵🍌

Honestly the tag barrel is a decent concept, I get why people would be annoyed with having to find them instead of having the ability to use one whenever. It seemed like it could have been much worse according to beta elements, which looked like it would require you to switch characters at the level entrance and the entrances in were the designated doorways that were made into the Wrinkly Kong hint doors.

I think these Mainline Mario and DK lists are solid! I agree, and here’s what I think of them: Mario mainline: no bads. Awesome. SMB: The Lost Levels to NSMB Wii U: not good, but not bad either, they were just, ok. SMB 2 to SM Odyssey: of course they are good, and unlike most ranking list focusing on the good games, where normally from light good to really good is the case, ALL the good mainline Mario games are Really Good. Mario may not have a perfect record, but whenever his games are good, they're Really Good. DK games: DK Jr. Math: oh my god it’s SO Bad. At least Smash Bros. has an assist trophy that helps with math. Thankfully, that’s the only dud I found from the DK games. DK3 to DK Barrel Blast: not good, but not bad either, they were just, ok. DK Jr. to DK Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest: they were good, from light good to really good, I had a blast playing these. If we are going in order of Smash Bros. franchises, next will be The Legend of Zelda.

This is a nice list for the Donkey Kong games, especially Diddy Kong's Quest ranked as #1. Diddy Kong is my favorite character from the Donkey Kong franchise, and the sidekicks definitely deserve just as much credit as the main heroes do in the story. I'd also like to see you rank the Yoshi games from worst to best.

While I like DK64, I can't ignore its flaws but it shouldn't be known as one of the worst 3D platformers. It's still better than something like Earthworm Jim 3D or worse, Bubsy 3D.

DK never got much respect in the post arcade era. He never had a game during the NES years (no that educational DK Jr. Math doesn't count). They bring him back for the SNES era in a trilogy of games but relegate him to the damsel in distress for parts 2 and 3. They put out a Kong themed racing game for the N64 but its Diddy Kong NOT Donkey Kong. Doesn't even get a Switch game (no the port of Tropical Freeze from the Wii U doesn't count).

I don't think any DK game other than DKC1 and 2 managed to create the same atmosphere, the newer games just felt really flat and cartoonish to me, I miss the drama and feel of those older levels, snowy blizzards, dark, lamp lit treetop levels, underground caves, honey dripping bee hives, haunted forests etc. I'd love to see a new DK game, 2d or 3d, with that same atmosphere, music and sense of exploration.

It’s sad that people pass up tropical freeze due to it not being exactly the same gameplay and atmosphere as the music level design and bosses more than make up for it. It’s exactly how you do a plat-former and better than any of the new super mario bros games.

It’s nice to know that the DKC series is at the top of the list, and that DKCR is still getting some positive attention. Is the entire MvDK series all together into one ranking, if not then where would the other games be? I feel Stanley could be a hero by chasing away an army of powered up bugs and stop them from eating all the plant based power ups by upgrading his bug sprayer with bits and pieces of power ups left behind by the bugs, kinda like a mix of Super Mario and Kirby. I also thought the boss bug could kidnap Pauline and have Stanley be her new boyfriend, but I don’t necessarily know how well that would work. I made my own lyrics for Diddy’s celebration dance in the second DKC game: 🎵 Out of all the primates on this island, I’m the monkey man. Because nobody else around here, could do what I can. 🎵 11:50 AAAHH, MY EYES ARE BLEEDING!!!
