that reference manual has been exceptionally handy - thanks so much for posting it. Wow, I just re-watched this because I am going through my '13 B8 A4 CAEB motor and I had a ticking that I suspected was a lifter, turned out to be intake on cylinder 2, this was a great memory refresher on the placement of the cams - and went with the slime D154 103 A1 $80, wow that is liquid gold. Great video and I would love more stuff on intake, upper head and suspensions on the B8 platforms. Great video

Hey NaptownTuner. Great videos, not only informational, funny as well lol. Much appreciated. If you would make a complete video step by step how to replace the leaky Anaerobic sealant! I really would like to see the proper way of fixing the timing related parts before you remove all 22 bolts and & pull up the cam tray so it does not mess up the timing; rockers/camshafts etc. And how and where you apply the Anaerobic sealant around the parameter! And finally, show putting back the cam tray and torqueing sequence and how much! I would really appreciate it!

Please do a detailed vid! My cam tray is leaking on the exhaust side and I gotta reseal it soon, so a detailed vid about it would mean the world! If you can, can you mention whether or not the engine should be set in time, locked in time, and if theres any special care needed with the variable valve lift on the exhaust when just resealing the cam tray? Love your vids, I watch them practically every day. Thank you!!

ALTERNATIVE - Permatex Anerobic Flange Sealant This sealant is most commonly used on Camshaft cradles for 2.0T engines and Oil pans and is a great alternative to the very expensive VW Audi sealant.
@thyomii89532 жыл бұрын
Thank youu
@martomcuser4 ай бұрын
I know this is an old comment, but I have a correction - you would want to use Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker, not their anaerobic flange sealant. The flange sealant, per Permatex, is not to be used on aluminum as it can cause putting. The part number for the Anaerobic Gasket Maker from Permatex is 51813. I hope this helps someone in the future.

The detent ball sprung out of my camshaft once. I looked for it for hours before I declared it a lost cause. If this ever happens to anyone have your local Audi dealer pull up a parts diagram of the exhaust camshaft, you are able to get both the ball and spring separately and are only a few bucks each. Don’t throw out your expensive camshaft!!

Hello Mr Naptown tuner, I've completed my 2.0 TFSI after the timing chain broke. The engine runs good while driving. But when the car idles it doesn't run smooth and there is a constant missfire on cylinder 3. When it runs higher than 1000 rpm there is no missfire anymore. All other cylinders are running perfectly. Is it possible that part of the outlet camshaft which is responsible for cylinder 3 was wrong installed by myself?

Great explanation as always. I did my cam tray few weeks ago because it had an oil leak and after the first start engine start ticking. No errors yet as I shut it off almost right away and timing seems to be ok, lines up perfectly with the cams and crank mark. Pulled the covers off and looks like I got the old timing chain tensioner and the chain itself got stretched so will replace these first and see how it sounds after. Did you ever experience that and should I look for anything else while I’m in there?

@jcd8303 жыл бұрын
If the camshaft pops up when the pressure is removed from the valve cover then why isn't pressure needed to replace the valve cover? I ask because ordinarily the vacuum pump holds the camshaft in place under pressure when the valve cover is removed. Would there be anything wrong with holding the camshaft in place with something while replacing the gaskets for the vacuum pump?
