Smashed it buddy! That 10x1k sesh is mad, you ripped it - definitely shows there’s plenty more room for improvement over the marathon with that kinda 10k speed (I’ve never been able to average under 2:55s for that session) 🔥

Matt really is the definition of a heavy sweater. Congrats again. We need Reem to share what she did to bring down her time too. Am on that same timing path right now

Yes, you are totally right about the speed. For me, as a old (59 now) former middle distance runner my speed feels gone the last years with training for longer distances. Now since a couple of months I put more sprints (60-100m) into the training. And it feels so much better now! Technical (biomechanical) I start to run (again) better👍!

16:00 This is what we learn in A-Level PE (UK) about what carb loading is, the depletion for 3-4 days then ramping up loads for 2 days before race day. Cool to hear that it works well.

Loved this, thanks for all the insight. You are so intuitive with running and it’s really helped me access my own running since my 1st mara 23 years ago. Did Indy’s weather get a 9 bc it definitely could’ve been 10-15°F cooler?

I took a lot of things away from this, but biggest one was that 'Fortnight' is a British/Aussie thing and not US. 😂 + rebranding/name is a smart one.

Hi Matt, congrats on the incredible result! How do you adjust training when you're training in really warm, humid conditions every day like Singapore/Malaysia where every easy run (doesn't feel easy) and easy runs feel like steady runs because of the heat?

Stupid question cause I suffer the overheating sweat thing like yourself but "if allowed" would your run a marathon with your top off like you do in training? Would that benefit getting rid of heat?
@sweatelite2 күн бұрын
Absolutely it would. I saw many at NYC running without a shirt, I’m not sure if it’s an issue in a sub-elite / elite field

Walking the walk 💪, though not the focus of this vlog, you have inspired me from a diet consistancy perspective. have set a side goal to be 180- 179lbs by next April

Awesome job Matt. The indy marathon was my first full marathon after starting running 18 months ago at age 45. Finished 3:29' 08" giving everything I had, but I definitely left feeling like there is a lot more room to get faster.

Can u say that high mileage training is the most important thing that get u to run sub 2:20 ?
@sweatelite2 күн бұрын
I think body weight / diet is #1, followed by mileage followed by gym, but it’s hard to know for sure

so you recommend losing weight to run marathons? (Just kidding, I find it so funny that folks get offended, while the key factor in running that we're all fighting against is gravity).

Very few races with strong fields to compete with have guaranteed cold weather. It’s easy to find a freezing marathon with a winning time of 3:00 but 2:15-2:20… very few if any. Plus right now I am stuck in the Us waiting on a green card and have been for almost a year
