My mom and grandmother taught me how to make pretty good biscuits but now I make great biscuits. I get complimented on them all the time and I tell people, "These are Tammy's biscuits". Then I tell them to watch Collard Valley Cooks. I've always been so comfortable in the kitchen, so even though I'm going on 72, this old dog is still learning new tricks and from a darn good teacher.

I watch a very famous woman who used to be on TV who now has a KZbin channel and I love Southern cooking. What I love about you is that you take the time. This other woman is always in a rush she gets lazy and uses box mixes. I want to learn homestyle cooking from scratch. I have celiac disease and I can't always grab a box of anything usually I can't. God bless you for taking the time because cooking is an art, it's not something to be rushed through. You are a blessing.

Hi Tammy! I remember my grandmothers making biscuits like this. It's really an art! When we began our biscuit-making endeavors, we "cheated" and made drop biscuits. We gradually began to make the cut-out biscuits and have been working on the rolled biscuits. My crew got to the point they didn't feel like they had breakfast unless homemade biscuits were served so they've been motivated to work on becoming skillful biscuit makers. The visual your videos have provided have helped SO much! Thanks so much for all the instructions and the videos, y'all!

When I was 8, my grandmother taught me how to make biscuits. She put her flour on the counter, she made a well, she combined lard, salt, baking soda, starter, buttermilk and rolled her biscuits. She used the back of her hand to make imprint on top of biscuits. She brushed the top of her biscuits with softened butter, and baked them on a dark cookie sheet at 500 degrees F till golden brown.

Such a sweet memory. My mama always used the rolled method. Kept her flour in a large red enamel bowl. When the bowl came out, rest assured something good was in the menu. She made incredible apple dumping from that bowl as well. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed.

My Mama rolled hers out everyday 3 times a day! She had a big wooden bowl my great Grandpaw carved out of a tree for her when I was 1 yr old... I'm 67 n I've always made mine the same way! She always kept flour in her biscuit bowl n when done, Shed slide her bowl in a white cotton pillowcase n fold it under her bowl n slide it in her cabinet! I do now have her bowl and will pass it down to my daughter or son! My son cooks n bakes more than any man! I taught my kids n grandkids how to cook! Thanks Tammy! Rolling Biscuits ain't hard to do at all... If my Grandkids can do it, anybody can! Only takes a few minutes to whoop up a pan of Biscuits! I like my biscuits baked dark brown with a lil crunch on the outside! Soft in the middle! So delicious! Its no trouble to get a bowl n dump flour in it! 😁Lol. N Ga mtns here! God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤

This was a great video. What I enjoy most is how well the video is done (Kudo’s to Chris for that I guess). I’ve watched some other biscuit videos that were done using a cell phone camera that were of poor quality and didn’t have the close up shots. There is a big difference. Now I think I can actually make a rolled (or pinch) biscuit. Thanks!

Thank you for sharing your recipes and experiences with us. I have a confession to make: I've never liked biscuits. Ever. The last couple years, I could tolerate them in gravy, but on their own? Forget it. I made and canned jam earlier this month, and while it was sitting in the pantry taunting me to try it WITH a biscuit no less, I tripped over a biscuit recipe that I really like, and have found a love for homemade biscuits. So, now I'm checking out other biscuit recipes from scratch, and these look like a winner. Lol.

My grandma and mom both used an old dish pan for making biscuits . They would cover it with a dishtowel when not in use . Grandma and mom used the edges of their hands and did what they called cutting the biscuit and then pat the biscuit flat . Odd how 2 big pan of biscuits always seemed to turn out like almost the same size . They both had 9 children .

My husband & I love crunchy biscuits, so I put a skillet with oil in my stove as it heats. Once I've fixed my biscuit dough, & the oven is heated, I place the biscuits in the heated oil, flip it over, then move on to the next biscuit. That makes a great crust on your biscuits.

I grew up on the west coast but my mother and grandmother were from Tennessee. In the 1950s my granny made biscuits with Crisco, flattened the dough with a rolling pin, and cut them out with a biscuit cutter. Sometimes she made drop biscuits.
