@@Ghostbear2k For sure. It's the mental association people have of 'food unfit to be consumed by humans' that gave him a mental recoiling. Genuinely one of the best pranks possible though, imo- there's no harm because the stuff they used is really just mushed up real human edible food, Barry got a great meal, and after the reveal for the shock factor and laughs they more or less immediately took part in it themselves and reassured him, which essentially let him in on the joke too so he got in on the laughing instead of feeling hurt. This is 100% the kind of ad I can get behind. A genius idea, and incredibly bold on the sponsor's part. Granted, Kush and Ben would have been able to take almost literally anything edible and turn it into something delicious. Considering they didn't really hide the dog food, but instead put it in a context where it made sense and then complemented it, is wild. You have to be confident to put your product out there in this way. Extremely effective. It makes me wonder if there's something to take away for us, as humans. Everything in this episode comes in under the skill cap of your average home cook -- maybe not to formulate, but certainly to reproduce it. This episode is as much a modern re-imagining of "peasant food" as it was an ad for pet food. Take the parts of an animal that the nobles and well-off didn't want and turn it into delicious, nutritious food for your family.
Can i say that having been watching for almost a decade, the element of both chaos and education that Kush brings to the screen is brilliant and well appreciated. I know so many people say hes filling James's spot but i think he has made his entirely own spot that was well needed

My roommates and I had 4 pets between us. We decided to make pet food from scratch once a month because it was cheaper and healthier than the canned or dry stuff. We’d buy a large pack of mince for 3 weeks, and one large pack of pork liver on the 4th week. Then we’d grate a bunch of carrots, add in minced garlic (to prevent fleas), rice and/or oats and some eggs. My Cuisinart got a workout “sliming” the liver and grating the carrots. Mix well and bake. My brother came over, took a deep breath and said, Smells good! What’s for dinner? not realizing we were baking pet food! Once cooled, we’d portion it out and freeze it. And yes, on occasion when we ran out of sandwich fixings, we’d have a “meatloaf” sandwich! Pet food doesn’t have to be crap.

My understanding is that garlic and onions. petmd backs up up FWIW: Garlic contains thiosulfate, which is toxic to dogs but not humans. Garlic is the most toxic member of the Allium family, which also includes onions, leeks, and chives. Admittedly, small quantities of leftover spaghetti bolognese (cooked trad English way) never hurt any dog we had, but it was just leftovers, and they liked it as 'not dog food' - also liked to steal cat food, which wasn't great.

@@jamesmansion2572 When it comes to garlic the situation is a bit tricker than just a plain 'it's good' or 'it's bad' for the dog. It has its benefits, but can also be toxic (same goes for humans, btw, too much garlic is unhealthy for us too). There are a few breeds which can not eat it at all, but for most breeds a bit (!) of fresh (!) garlic with their food, 3 or 4 times a week, is perfectly save and beneficial to health. Just don't feed it more than 1/2-1 clove per 10kg of body weight, don't give it to puppies (or super small dogs - I personally would do that either, too risky as it's too easy to overdose them), and make sure your dog isn't one of the breeds more susceptible to thiosulfate poisoning.

They always give Barry a “ruff” time. Let his mind run around without a leash trying to figure out the food theme.

Thank you for being specific in that the food by itself is also human edible, but the dishes are not for dogs. People need to know that so they don't hurt their pets thinking they're making a nice meal for them. If you're gonna feed your dog people food, make sure to look things up, folks. Some of the most basic things we eat can cause real harm. They're not people.

Ebbers missed a gag, before Bazza sat down i'd have loved him to say 'down boy'. I know that might have given the game away, but it would have amused me.😂

You should do a plating battle now. Give them the same ingredients and a dish to make (chicken, mash and green beans like the masterclass for example) but leave how everything else up to them. The cut of chicken, how it’s prepared, presentation etc

There is/was a taste tester for dog food, read an article ages ago about a guy having that job. Quite amusing that Baz focused his compliments on the dog food really :P
