Our deep tray molds collection was born out of requests from our customers for a thick and durable mold that could be used to create things like cigar trays, rolling trays, coin dishes, small planters for succulents and more.
Unlike typical small and thin silicone tray molds, these molds feature substantial 1" wide sidewalls that gives you the ability to integrate live edge wood, or encase small objects right within the side of the tray. The interior tray portion of the finished piece this mold makes is 1" deep, allowing it to be fully functional as a dish or tray.
Making a cigar or ashtray? Demold your piece then run rounded channels through the top of it using a router table and appropriate router bit.
Resin artists love these molds because small things can be encased within thick resin walls such as coins, dried flowers, coffee beans, sea shells, marbles, candy, and other knick-knacks that are less than 1" in size.

Could you get these with slots for the cigars in the mold?

No, you would have to use your router to mill a curved slot into them after the demold, to create a cigar holder.

One last question… would a cigar burn the epoxy? If yes…. Can something be done about it?

Likely yes, as high heat can damage the epoxy.

Well, with a pre-made silicone mold (like the ones we sell) no "border" is required.

Shawn, how does that epoxy work and is it better than the other total boat epoxy's? What would you prefer or suggest

I was using the Total Boat epoxy here (Makerpoxy is also TotalBoat)

Great job in such a short video showing so much. Regarding epoxy, I use Wisebond and it does the job. I first started using Wisebond because it is available locally and cost-wise, is comparable to other brands. From what I have researched and tested on small crafts like the ones shown in this video or river tables, I think set-up time is one of the main differences when considering epoxy. Wisebond is a slow set-up time epoxy which gives me extra time (i.e., no need to rush things) during a pour. Totalboat is also a very good epoxy and there are others, so it's really a matter of personal choice, cost, and what you get used to. Shawn: Keep making these videos. They are quite good. Thanks.
