2 Hours Float Fishing with Maggots: What will I Catch?!

With only two hours float fishing, what will I catch? It had been a long work session but GP was desperate to get out to the lakeside, following his hunch that conditions might be good for some traditional float fishing in the margins. He had several baits to choose from. Red maggots, big Worms, Casters, Hemp, and even some perfumed black groundbait that he thought had a weird smell to it... Was it COCONUTS? But with only a couple of hours to try before the fishery was due to close would his hunch pay off? Sit back and follow how and when he decides to make bait changes. It's a film that all float fishermen should enjoy...

Tempted, but the rivers up, town is crowded and the weather is generally shocking. However, I do have a big pot of dendrobena that's sitting doing nothing. No other bait mind, so might jig them. Mind, I miss just sitting watching a float.

Great video once again. Lots of action on the two rods. Takes me back to my yearly visits to Ireland and some of the river fishing we did there. One year we were staying at Graignamanagh and were fishing the River Barrow a lot. I caught the roach of a lifetime, followed next fish by another. First one was 3lb2oz, second was 3lb3oz. They were huge. My mate was so jealous. Haven’t been to Ireland for many years now. But I’m determined to get back one day. Keep up the good work. Loving your fishing adventures.

Had my best ever roach session there. Peg number 1. Had about 2and a half hours one afternoon last January. Bailey's number 1 watered with a few crushed pellets. And maggots on the hook, they had some turmeric for added attraction. I had 9 good roach, and all were over the 1lb mark. The biggest was 1lb 10oz. My son had a set of scales. I'd never seen a roach as big as a pound before that day. I know what you mean about the carp, even the 4 - 5 pounders "don't arf hang on", as Peter Stone would say. I've hooked into nessie at Watmore too, but didn't even get close to seeing ut. At least 10 mins of hard fighting, what must have been close on a 20. She left me fishless and beaten up. Cracking location, fantastic owner. Andy's one of the nicest men I know. Only problem is, I can't get there any more. Lost the car, and can't afford another one. It's only a few miles from me too. I'm in Farnborough. That's the main reason I look at a few videos on you tube, I get to enjoy other people fishing while I can't. Keep taking care of you and yours Graeme. TTFN.

Stay safe over there in Farnborough...Check out Dolce Italia in Peabody Rd,they do a fair takeaway Pizza.....I used to be at B&Q regularly but try to steer clear now....pay a bit extra elsewhere so I avoid the crowds. When your maggots start to "Sweat" put handful of " Vermiculite" in with them. You can get it from garden centers, it's used to keep moisture in compost but it has the reverse effect when the compost is too wet, it soaks up the moisture.

Probably only done a couple of fun matches in 60 years,I have absolutely no interest in fishing matches..I find enough competition against the fish...I don't need any extra stress !!!! Yes,I see from the weather charts the North has been getting a bit of a pasting for a while. I'm noticing a lot of blanket cloud hanging around for longer...could be the freshwater melt from Arctic evaporating into the heavens then turning to cloud....Can't wait to see a bit of sunshine...Fed up with the grey.
