HI Jose, I am really liking your videos. I had an issue with one of my ink cartridges. In an attempt to get the ball out of the cartridge, the ball fell inside the cartridge. Should I just use another cartridge or can I still use it?

It's fine. Drill the seat to 5/32" and continue using it. The ball should just float.

What's the purpose of the ball?

It's how the refilling was originally done via a vacuum machine method. Then they insert the ball and seal it with the overlaying Mylar tape on top of the cartridge.

What's the purpose of making the already existing hole bigger by drilling it? Carts can be easily flushed with a small hole.

There is a small diameter seat that holds the ball in place. That is what you are actually drilling. If you do not the plug will not fit.

Then maybe the plug must be smaller, not the hole be bigger? Isn't it logical? By the way, if one has no plugs, can he use an adhesive tape instead? Or it is critical that a plug must close not only the upper hole but also the lower one?

You are not making the hole bigger. The hole is already 5/32 " diameter, BUT the bottom is not a through hole. It is spherical with a tiny opening. This is where the round original sealing BALL would normally sit. If that spherical seat was not there, it would literally fall into the liquid chamber. In order to be able to fit a plug so that would actually seal, you need to remove that SEAT and the only way to do that is using a drill. So you are not at all enlarging of affecting the already present hole. You are only OPENING up the area that would contain the seat. Think of is like a half of an old fashion medicine Capsule. The hole is just like one of those half. It has a round bottom so a BB can sit there. You are drilling with a drill the same diameter as the hole and just milling off the bottom of the hole which is where the seat is. You can not seal the hole with that seat still there. Believe me it has been tried without success. You PC kit will have ALL you need. So no need to worry.

No. The hole is already 5/32" diameter. The reason for drilling is to eliminate the ball seat at the bottom of the factory hole. You are not enlarging the hole at all. If you do not remove the ball seat you can not plug the hole. The only tape that is proven to work is aluminized tape such as used on H Vac ductwork. Pain in the ass to use. Just buy some plugs and make your life a lot easier. Precisioncolors has them.

That video is doing it wrong!!!!! Believe me! It will lead to catastrophic leaking and the death of the print head! I have no idea why these garbage videos are even on KZbin!!! That is exactly why I started this channel! PC uses the Correct plug. There is not such thing as smaller plugs. These are designed for CANON Sponge type carts. Anything smaller diameter and you will regret it. Making things more convenient do not make things safer or correct.
