How do you stop Osteopenia from turning into Osteoporosis?
A significant portion of our patients in the clinic are seniors. I would say all of them have this condition- osteopenia/osteoporosis? It is just the course of nature.
This hits close to home for me because my Mom had early onset osteoporosis because of a surgery she said early in her life. I was not a Physical Therapist then and I have been practicing for more than 20 years now. We have been managing this since.
I will share with you what I had her to do help her improve her condition. Her osteoporosis improved.
I will share the top 2 things you can do to help your osteoporosis improve if you have osteoporosis. Or if you have osteopenia, how to prevent it from turning into osteoporosis. Please share this video with all the seniors you know so we can help them.
Share this with everyone you know so you can help change people's lives. Leave your comment below and let me know what you think.

You're welcome Jesse. I have to say your onset of osteopenia is pretty early. I always recommend weightbearing exercises for osteopenia/osteoporosis. Adding walking and stair climbing to your daily routine if you are not doing it yet will help a lot. I also like to give posture correction exercises to prevent the hump that usually forms with osteoporosis. I created a video about that. You can search for it in the channel. Hope this helps.

I'm 36 years old male i had my bmd test done day before yesterday the score came out to be - 2.5 which is a osteopenia score very close to becoming osteoporosis n it absolutely shocked me because i was thinking that i was very healthy since I've not suffered any major health ailment for the past 13 yrs now my major concern is if i don't do anything to fix my brittle bone condition then with increasing age it will become even more life threatening problem

Hey Chris, Sorry to hear this. Yes, it can get worse with age. I suggest start working out and add more food with Calcium and Vit D into your diet. and that will help. Good luck.

@@Chris-vt6nl those exercises are good. Do the biceps curl in standing instead of sitting. That way you are on a weightbearing position. Other good exercises are lunges, shoulder press in standing, step up/down to name a few.

Do you have any advise for a 48-year old, pre-menopausal female with diagnosed Osteopenia from DEX scan, with a history of gastric bypass surgery in 2002? Supplementation has been followed with food and food based supplements and synthetic forms as well.... so that is not the issue. Specifically taking lots of calcium, vitamin D, and K2 (MK7). Thank you for your video.

Dear HW, aside from taking supplements, I recommend adding weightbearing exercises to your routine. This helps strengthen your bones. Hope this helps.

Sorry to hear this Yanisqueen. Design your workout program to have more weightbearing exercises. Also, supplementing your diet with Vit. D3 and K2 might help.

So is going up and down the stairs considered a weight bearing exercise? And what to do for the rest of the bones that stair-climbing doesn’t affect?
@restorepluspt
@restorepluspt 6 ай бұрын
@Thinkforyourselves64 Yes stair climbing is considered a weightbearing exercise. You can check out another video in my channel that I created showing some great exercises for osteoporosis. That will answer your second question. Hope this helps.

@restorepluspt
@restorepluspt 9 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear this @bhanupriyaraghu3833. There are several conditions you have to consider. You can control the uric acid level with diet and medication. You can correct osteopenia with Vit. D, Calcium and exercise. Osteoarthritis though is not reversible. Is tends to be progressive. Eating healthy and exercising can mitigate the symptoms of osteoarthritis and slow down its progression. Hope this helps.🙏

Is cycling about 100 to 200km a week considered weight bearing enough?
@restorepluspt

Good question @bothmamarx7536. Cycling is mostly not enough to be considered as a replacement for actual weightbearing exercises doesn't matter the distance. Hope this helps.🙏

My doctor just told me to drink milk and eat other dairy with canned sardines with bones. Why avoid soy and milk?
@cal2780
@cal2780 Жыл бұрын
In order to make soy palatable, it has to be processed with undesirable things. Hexene is nasty! Do some research that's not paid for by the companies that benefit sales is soy beverage. Neurological disorders are linked to hexene. Marion Nestle wrote: What can I eat. Michael Pollan wrote a number of books. Read the books written by them.

@@fpark101I’d like to know as well. I love milk. Every channel I watch that talks about diet says to consume dairy which is milk, cheese etc. When I had my first DEXA scan the tech ask me in an alarming voice “Do you drink a lot of milk?” I replied no because I wasn’t drinking much milk but have increased it since my diagnosis.
