Hey man! I’m pretty sure I counted the bar weight and two of the big plates are 15kg and not 20kg, so that would make it 180kg. Could be wrong though, if so I would gladly take 200kg haha 😆

@@sebastianrundstromsveden 20 years ago, weightlifting was less popular. I start with 15 and my strength and fitness grow with the sport. Through crossfit weightlifting is hyped. But the influx is not children or teenagers, but people who already have a few years of fitness experience. If you have already squat 120kg and lift 160kg, you will be able to increase your weightlifting very quickly. However, people often compensate with brute strength. Then comes a long phase of stagnation, in which the technique must be brought to the same level. But most people don't last 1-2 years without new PRs, and then they settle for what they can do.

@sebastianrundstromsveden

Hey man! The first year I followed an individualized program from an online coach, and the second year I followed a general online crossfit program. So I mostly worked out on my own during this time and only went to a few classes in the box. Just a preference of mine. I would say that I focused mostly on developing good technique in the Olympic lifts and the gymnastic skills, and complemented with a lot of general strength work to build capacity in these. I had a pretty good aerobic base from my years of playing football so I only did metcons 2-3 times a week. Glad you found the video inspiring! You can definitely make a lot of progress on 3-5 times a week, especially if your box has good programming. And yes, it always feels like you have such a long way to go, probably because you have to be good at so many things in CrossFit 😅 But it definitely sounds like your on the right path! Keep working and good luck with your training moving forward!

First of all, thank you! I don’t really agree with what you’re saying since there’s no scientific evidence showing that having your knees over your toes increases the risk of injury, it’s really just an old “training myth”. Contrary, to have your knees over your toes is necessary for most in order to reach full squat depth and you can see that pretty much all competitive weightlifters do this when they’re lifting

Respect for your progress on the weights and double unders but I cannot get my head around the crossfit way of doing pull ups and muscle ups. Using momentum by kipping does not count for as far as I’m concerned. Strict straight body pull ups are what count. I know that’s how crossfit do their pull ups but I would consider doing strict pull ups as a part of your routine. They build great strength overall. Either way your progress is great 👍

Hey! First of all, thank you! It took a lot of work to make this progress possible :) I do strict pull-ups as a regular part of my routine and I agree with you that they’re superior to kipping ones when it comes to building strength. However, because the goal in crossfit is to exercise as fast as possible, kipping is more effectively, and that’s the reason I did them. Now when my focus has shifted more towards weightlifting, I only do strict pull-ups without using momentum.

Ninguém nunca acreditaria que esse rapaz, que nao tem o fisico de um bodybuilder, seria capaz de levantar tanto peso. As pessoas tendem a menosprezar outras pessoas. Ai esta a resposta.

This is not a good reference for the big population, your technique was quite good from the beginning 😅 I think those kgs will raise a lot if you dedicate some periods to gaining mass.

Yeah, everyone’s progress is different. I had done strength training for quite some years before this and guess I had a farther starting point than some other people getting into the sport. I have actually done exactly that! Just came from a training period where I focused a lot on gaining strength and mass. Now it’s time to get back into shape for the open 😅

Great progress, you have a very fast increase in weight. Be careful the technique for the clean is more a power clean than a full clean. you should work on it.
@sebastianrundstromsveden

Thank you, but why would you say that a power clean is more dangerous than a full clean?
@antoniob.5918
@antoniob.5918 Жыл бұрын
@@sebastianrundstromsveden it is more unstable because you catch the bar pretty high. So your lever to the ground is longer and when you increase weight this will go in to your back. So, when you want to increase weight you should learn full clean that this is safer.

@@antoniob.5918 I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on this one because this doesn't make any sense to me. If you're referring to torque, this is calculated by the force times the length of the lever in relation to the axis of rotation (in this case, the shoulder joint), not the ground. According to your logic, then it would be more dangerous to lift the bar over my head with a jerk because at that point the lever in relation to the ground is the longest. That doesn't make much sense, does it? Do you have a research article supporting your statement that a power clean is more dangerous than a full clean? If so, I would love to read it because I haven't heard anything like that in my sports science studies.

Really awesome progress, But can I ask why you decided to put your dedication into crossfit? I really loved the original concept of the sport but it seems to have strayed away from what it was supposed to be. Like instead of being multi-dicipline athletes there seems to be a lot of exercises that are literally designed to cheat the requirements. Like butterfly pull ups are purely designed to flop your chin barely above the bar with as little effort as possible. And when watching the games there seem to be a tendency towards bulky and unflexible bodies that make even the most basic things like running look extremeley awkward. When I heard about crossfit I thought it sounded awesome to be pretty good at anything and everything, but now it's essentially about olympic lifting and kipping efficiently.

Thank you! I get what you’re saying but I think it’s worth keeping in mind that CrossFit has become a sport with the goal of exercising fast, not to prescribe the most effective training to, for example, build the most amount of muscle and strength. Therefore, I think it’s important that you complement your CrossFit gymnastics and weightlifting with general strength work such as strict pull-ups, back squats and push-ups etc. In my experience, many boxes do this very well and only a minority of their classes are actual CrossFit training, aka “metcons”
