I love my one year wonder FZ10. The biggest reason I got this bike was because I can't own more than one bike right now. This bike does a lot of things I like. The coolest is it can be loaded for touring or stripped down for canyon carving or just cruising. It is the ultimate comfortable sport bike with extra capabilities. Yes it eats gas but so do other bikes in similar category, personally I have never needed the extra gas even when I crossed Death Valley I never used the extra gas I brought. As long as you plan your route accordingly and know where gas stations are it is not a problem. I always have a big smile after every ride, and a great appreciation for this motorcycle never have regretted buying it, it is a keeper. I can only imagine how much nicer the SP is, but I am a happy camper.

Great Video. I test rode a standard Gen 1 MT-10 a week or so ago, and wow what a bike. I thought my Gen 2 MT-09 was good but I loved the MT-10 just as much, and dare I saw it, I might have preferred the MT-10. I'm now finding myself looking at secondhand MT-10's, 🙂🏍.

I have the "standard" MT10 and would never sell it either. I had the chance to ride an SP a few weeks ago and it doesn't have enough advantage over my bike to swap it. Maybe because I have the suspension adjusted to how I like it. Having the choice of settings on the SP would be nice. The SP would only be considered as a replacement if it is needed. I think the MT10 ticks enough boxes to keep me excited, the wife loves riding with me and loves it too! Fuel economy, well I've got used to that. We judge our rides according to what I know of range. Fortunate to have rides that are now well known as well as some others for variety. After four years it is still nearly new. I think this bike might see my riding days out, coming up 71 in June. Thanks for sharing.

The sound of that bike with no cat is soo much better. If you can go fully into it, I recommend. it. But it's not just an exhaust change, its opening a can of worms. At least for me it was. Also, I had way too much wind too, so i added a windscreen. My problem was my helmet. The wind was trying to take my head off. I had a schubert C4. I will only ride in an arai helmet now. Huge difference. your bike is beautiful. It has a ton of potential. You made a lot of nice changes to it. Unleash that CP4 sound, next, its so good.

I have test ridden the MT-10 SP and I absolutely loved it. Plenty of power, yet it offers a very smooth ride. It's incredibly comfortable on the highway as well considering it's a naked sports bike. I would definitely go with the Yamaha offered touring kit with the bags and a visor similar to yours, also heated grips are a must. The Tracer 900 GT could also be a brilliant tourer with a lively engine. I currently own an MT-09 but looking for an MT-10 once I can afford it. I can squeeze around 155 miles out of the 09 when I'm touring at an average 60 mph. I'm sure I could reach close to 190 miles if I changed the gearing. But the MT-09 is just not a very good touring bike. I wonder if you could get a bit more mileage out of the MT-10 as well by changing the gearing? Anyways, 150 miles sounds just fine to me.
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Hi Ta3Kno, I have owned the 09 Tracer, used that for touring through Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and loved the CP3 engine. When I came to change it I have seen the MT10SP and knew instantly that was what I wanted. The CP4 engine is great! For touring well it’s naturally a naked bike but it does ok touring and I’m about to do a 9 hour day on it at the weekend. Yes mileage isn’t great but it’s the R1 engine so what can people expect. While touring I start to look for fuel stations at approx 110-120 miles as 150 miles really is close to running out while riding in touring mode. I have seen mileage all over the place on other MT10’s some only saying they get 100 ,lies but it depends how it’s ridden. 👍thanks for commenting and watching 🙏

@hubert11423 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOUK1 The engine is an absolute gem, I don't think they'll change it - it drinks like me in my 20s, but I don't care, I'd love it even if it wanted twice as much fuel. I was thinking more about a bit better design (even though I love the current one and it's 10yrs ahead of time:)), separate TCS from anti wheelie, cornering ABS, cornering headlights, quickshifter+blipper as standard, ability to turn off ABS (at least for the rear wheel) etc. You know, get it to the level of Ducati Streetfighter, but I guess the bike would not be as affordable as it is now.

I bought a 2017 MT-10SP 3 weeks ago and loving it so far. I am thinking of getting a cat delete pipe and a reflash but I don't want to mess up the fuel consumption. My bike is actually pretty good on fuel at open road speeds, but rubbish around town. With a decat and reflash, what effect did that have on the fuel use? Thanks for all your informative videos.
@MOTOUK13 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, firstly congrats on the new bike 👍 so I had decat Leovince and I had an R1 Akra, added a baffle as don’t like too noisy. I had a ecu flash woolich done with Andy at Junction33 and I stayed while he did the dyno tune. I could see the bike ran lean very lean before so he made the fuelling spot on. By doing the ecu flash I was getting more torque and bhp at all throttle openings 10%, 20,40,60,80,100 and by having more torque he explained to me less fuel to make the bike move. Once I tested I was actually getting better mileage after.
@terrysmith46713 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOUK1 Thanks so much for the quick reply. I have an Akra slip on plus the stock muffler and probably prefer the more mellow sounds from the stock pipe/cat combo. @MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Seating position on a long ride is great, so here’s the thing sitting upright for many hours is not comfy on most bikes as all the weight is straight down on your ass. I tried the comfort seat and you just push down with no movement so make more uncomfortable. I use the standard Seat which while harder allows for movement and also tips you slightly forward which makes it more comfy on longer journeys. For two up yes my wife comes on sometimes and for her the comfort seat is better as wider at the back. Standard Seat is too hard for passenger my opinion and hers. So not a win win situation.

Ecu flash only necessary if you decat the bike. Issue is the bike runs lean due to euro 5, if you decat it will run more lean and that’s not good for the engine. If you dont decat and just add a slip on exhaust then no need to ecu flash.
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOUK1 it has an Akrapovic decat on the bike... Owner before me did it.
@MOTOUK13 жыл бұрын
Did they ecu flash it or not? For me it was a must and after i had the 600 mile service it had it done. I just wanted the bike fuelled right and not strangled like with euro 5 regs
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
@@MOTOUK1 no flash, it feels lean in the throttle response. Bike has 35,000 kilometers on it now. I've noticed throttle openings real conservative too. Like open throttle 100% in 6th and the Computer opens it 60%. Flash sorts that to so I'm told.

How about passenger position peg. Some biker says it's not very comfy. I need to now
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
So the rear pegs yes they are a little high for a pillion. If you can find and buy the tracer rear pegs they fit and longer making it comfy for passengers. 👍

I have just bought a new MT you said you did your own servicing.. doesn’t it invalidate warranty if you don’t take it to a dealer? I’m a mechanic and want to do my own servicing. Think it’s a bit of a joke that the dealer told me I would be sticking my warranty if I did so
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
First service dealer yes, after that as far as I know use Yamaha oil filters and you won’t void warranty
@scudtub4 жыл бұрын
MotoUk I have just contacted Yamaha UK and they have told me so long as receipts and records of mileage are kept then it is fine to do own servicing 👍🏻

Did the ecu flash make much difference
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Made world of difference yes, more torque not that it needs but smoother linear power and knowing the fueling is spot on now as from new they run lean. Throttle better too.

@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Hi David, crazy why they don’t. You should complain more that do so will eventually bring it. But for 2021 I think there maybe a new version coming
@chincemagnet4 жыл бұрын
MotoUk that would be awesome, I’m in the market for a new bike next year, or maybe the year after. I currently have an MT09.
@chincemagnet4 жыл бұрын
MotoUk the crappy thing is to convert an base model to an SP costs significantly more than the difference between them off the showroom floor. I looked into it, the suspension components were like $4000 US and that still leaves the Brembo components, probably another $1500-$2000
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Yes I know that’s why I bought the SP here because it was a no brainier with the extra parts. Let’s see if the new one comes over. Btw SP only has brembo rear master cylinder, not full brembo brakes :(

Hey, I’ve been riding a 1996 Suzuki bandit 600 for the past year and I’m looking into getting my next motorcycle. I’m trying to decide between the mt10 and the old fz1. The fz1 is quite a bit cheaper but my heart wants the cross plane engine and the pure badassery of the mt10. Have you done any 2 up riding? My girlfriend comes with me pretty often and the givi top case looks like it would be great for her to be more comfy. Any input on the 2 bikes would be great!
@MOTOUK14 жыл бұрын
Hi yes the top box makes it better for pillion to lean against for sure. The rear pegs are very high and a lot of guys buy the tracer ones and add on as they are longer and better for pillions. The standard seat is hard for pillion so a comfort seat better and wider on the back. My wife has been on many times 👍

I had an FZ1 4 7years and loved it, very understated no issues what so ever with the 5vy engine as I had the R1 before it with the same engine. I’ve just sold it as I’m looking to get an mt10 sp as it must be the perfect replacement, so all down to cost and what your heart really desires.

Curious what your thoughts are on replacing the spark plugs on this beast? I’ve heard of it being a pain in the but so just curious if you find it easy or have some trick up your sleeve.
@MOTOUK1 Жыл бұрын
Hi 👋 I’ve done 22,500 miles so far on same spark plugs so will ask the garage to change these on its 24,000 mile service. The dealer will check the valve/shims on this one and will have to strip the bike right down so he may as well do it. I’ve heard they are not easy to reach.
