About: Satisfactory
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Pioneering for FICSIT Incorporated means charting and exploiting an alien planet, battling alien lifeforms, creating multi-story factories, entering conveyor belt heaven, automating vehicles, and researching new technologies.
This Factorio like game has heavy automation, with automated mining, crafting, and you can even automate movement!

I still wish there was an alternate build mode for conveyors that would only use 90 degree bends, and as few as possible; similar to the "horizonal to vertical" mode that pipes have.

"Give yourself more space than you need" is hands down the best tip. Compact design is good on the small scale, but you instantly run into problems when you try to scale that up.
@Sanquinity
@Sanquinity Жыл бұрын
I tend to run into problems the moment I try to start scaling things up after the steel tier. Like "10 by 16 foundations, should be enough!" Nope...not when I want 500/min nails, 300 iron plates, 300 iron rods, 200 wire, 200 cable, and a good 80~100 steel plates/pipes to be produced... (basically the start of a "starter hub factory" from which I could get resources, to use for building other factories/mining buildings across the map.) Even 3 floors on that 10x16 platform wasn't enough when I wanted to also add all the parts I could make with assemblers. And that attempted build was still pretty small compared to what people build in the late game. :P So saying "Give yourself more space than you need" is an understatement. Take a space you think you need. Then double that. And add a second floor. THEN you might come close to the space you need for good organized design that doesn't feel cramped. :P

My spouse and I are on our first map/build and I've learned a bunch (shout out to the 90 degree angle tricks and using signs as mood lighting in particular) from your vids. One thing that I’ve recently discovered that I haven’t seen anyone mention yet is that you can stack splitters/mergers on top of each other and use conveyer lifts to condense load balancing belt designs. The whole tree will easily fit on a single foundation and you could use conveyer walls to ‘black box’ the system if you don’t like how it looks.

Biggest tip I can give after several failed attempts of building a "starter hub factory" that would make all parts up to motors (not rotors): Build BIG. No not as big as you're imagining, even BIGGER. Going from rotors, reinforced plates, and steel pipes/plates to stators, rotors, frames, and industrial beams is a HUGE jump in both resources and needed space.

So I know you are into design and architecture, and you should make the videos you want, but what I’m looking for is help/suggestions on logistics. Once I hit a certain point in game, I don’t know how to scale without it becoming a mess. I’ve watched your logistics vids already. If you could make one focusing on inter-factory logistics, or point me to someone else’s vid… I know how to use vehicles, but things like an efficient truck depot design or one item per train car vs each item on it’s own train, etc. Thanks. 😊

@Sanquinity
@Sanquinity Жыл бұрын
Yea this is also my major stumbling block. Every time I get to stators, motors, frames, and industrial beams and try to scale things up a little I always seem to underestimate how much space and resources I need, resulting in a mess of a factory. At this point I tend to just...start a new game because disassembling the entire factory and having to deal with all the leftover resources is a huge annoyance to me. Far more than starting over and taking a good 20~30 hours to get to the same point again. It's still frustrating though... Also trucks are a pain imo. They leave this "invisible barrier" behind them so no other truck can drive there for quite a while. So you basically have to have each truck on a path that doesn't cross with others at all or there will be issues.

central storage management is the biggest pain in the ass of all obstacles in the game, at least for me. Using smart splitters but then one of the storage units gets full and halts the line... so I remade the whole thing giving each component it's own conveyor. It was a LOT of conveyors, but it works perfectly now. Of course I am pretty sure a chunk of my hard work is going to go to waste when they update the spire coast. I've had days to come to terms with that and I still haven't.

One thing I got frustrated with is certain natural points do not line up with your ability to place foundations. I struggled to try and line up a rockarch with a foundation so that it was a straight line under it between the two end pillars of the arch. In the end I found a thirdparty map site which allowed you to edit the savefile to nudge the angles the foundation was passing across to line up with the arches. If this is actually possible to do in game, I would be so happy to learn how, but damn it I couldn't figure out any other way myself...

Satifactory-Calculator ended up letting me touchtap the angle enough to make them line up though...

More generally, you can sometimes hold Ctrl to replace one thing with another. For example, you can replace a regular wall with a window. Just select a window, mouse over a wall, and hold Ctrl while clicking left mouse button. The wall will be replaced by the window. In the above video he replaced the barrier with a wall, taking advantage of the increased snap options the barrier gives you.

One small note about feeding below: don't do that with liquids. Liquid physics work much better if you're feeding from above. Also please don't use the word "bus" to describe long stacked belts, that's not what it means :) "bus" is when you split/merge from those stacked belts to your production line. Long stacked belts are just long stacked belts and not a bus :)
@TotalXclipse
@TotalXclipse 2 жыл бұрын
I think you're wrong about the bus - A bus transports items from one factory to another, a manifold is what splits Items between the factory production line. - I got confused with that early on, and subsequently received a lot of flak for it, easy mistake to make though. You're absolutely right about not feeding liquids from below unless you have a buffer holding the liquid above the line prior.

@@greeny-dev The only definition I can find is more pertaining to electronic circuits is "A parallel circuit that connects the major components of a computer, allowing the transfer of electric impulses from one connected component to any other." Shouldn't push for 8 minutes if it means drawing out the video, KZbin's really pushing engagement currently so the more you can push that time up, the more KZbin will recommend the video. Spotify has jumped up by 4x the numbers since publishing, but it's still to early to say whether it's long term or short term growth, but I'm happy overall. Glad you're enjoying the content!

@@TotalXclipse yeah, engagement has always been high on the algo list. But the difference between 7:30 and 8:01 could be $20 rpm easy. Pack it with midroll every time, it never hurts engagement based on the extensive research we've done.

I wish you'd go back to the way you use to make videos. With some humor and excitement

I'm sick of clearing trees with every update. once again do a good job. Fix FPS in Update 6. I see 10 FPS on GTX 960 2 GB graphics card. Let this be the last. If this update is not optimized I will delete the game. We don't need landscaping. We can't play the game yet, not everyone's graphics card is good... Do you know what 10 FPS means even at the lowest? FPS FPS FPS, fix it now... Update 6, get FPS working this time...
