And then venture on to a 20-mile backpacking trip up to Jade Lake & Marmot Lake in the Cascade Mountains. It was beautiful nonetheless but the bugs kind of ruined the experience. Beautiful! You showed a bit of the rough part between Marmot and Jade, but it was hard to get a sense of how bad it was or wasn't. What did you think compared to thr rest?

The whole hike is pretty hard. But if you are in good hiking shape, you can manage every part of the hike. The last push from Marmot to Jade is definitely the most challenging, especially because you are getting pretty exhausted at this point. We personally wish we stretched this hike to 3 days, nights. So if you have the time, it will be worth it to actually enjoy the two lakes and maybe even push to Pea Soup Lake.

@@tworoamingsouls yeah, that is our plan. Debating 2 nights at marmot and day hike to jade and pea soup or one night at marmot and get up to jade early before it gets hot, then day hike to pea soup. We will see.

@@soccer77grl I don't remember the exact coordinates, but it was just off the road to the trailhead. Maybe 10-15 minutes from the actual trailhead? There we honestly quite a few good spots, but being on the river and being able to clean up was really nice! Hope this helps!

@tworoamingsouls thanks for getting back to me. Loved your trip. I live in washington State all my life. I haven't been to Jade Lake yet. Been to colchuck and north cascades many times. Was just curious because was planning to go back to north cascades but due to fires I'm planning something else. Going to be at jade lake during the week and was curious about campsites availability during week. So seems like there were a couple campsites open when you got there at jade lake? Mid week.

@@str8boogerflikn102 honestly hard to say how campsite availability will be. There’s maybe like 8 good sites that we noticed. The best advice we can give is to avoid weekends (if you can) and start early in the morning so you arrive earlier than others.

We did use a bear canister, and highly recommended it. I believe you either need that or to do a bear hang. We also suggest carrying bear spray 👍

This hike actually does have a very basic drop toilet up at Jade Lake. No doors & just a little ways up from the camping area. But yes, most of the time we just follow the backcountry rules. At least 100-200 feet from water, campsites & trail, dig a hole 6 inches deep & carry out TP.

The bugs were by far the worst part. Luckily Jade Lake is one of the most stunning lakes, so it somewhat made up for the horrible bugs. haha
