Wow. Brings back memories of my PCT hike in 2015. I hammock camped most of California and all of Oregon and Washington. I saw about twenty mountain goats near Knife’s Edge in the Goat Rocks. Cheers Jeff

Beautiful area - the color of that water - wow! Love that you included some sightseeing footage at the end, too. I was supposed to go on a business trip mid-March to Seattle and planned to visit REI...so bummed it didn’t happen. Be well, and hike on!

My backyard , I fish the lake every April hiking through snow since 68 and still do. Being 69 I take the short way to Old Snowy & Knife Edge by using Snowgrass Flats reducing the climb to 7 miles.

Tim; I read your comments. Thank you for your honesty and transparency. That outlook is missing in this world of social media, Instagramers, and KZbinrs. Love your approach to your videos. Keep it up and you do you!

Great video, love seeing that area I"m on the east coast. Thanks for sharing as you always do. You mentioned you didn't hike as much in 2020 for obvious reasons, I'm guessing the virus? I always find it strange, perhaps it's just the area I live. We had a rather large lockdown, not much to do other than go somewhere where you could social distance. So for me, it was the biggest year as far as hiking and backpacking I logged way more than double my regular adventures.

Did my first “long distance” hike. 38 miles solo last week over those two loops below the Packwood one you did. It was a blast! Took me 4 days wearing 40 lbs, but totally worth it! The Packwood loop is next for me!

What an incredible hike! And that REI looked like something out of Jurassic Park😳. Also congrats on becoming a volunteer FF. It’s a big (and selfless) commitment. Stay safe!

Awesome to see you in Washington. Better yet in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. It’s a really nice place. I have back packed the snowgrass flats loop just couple weeks ago. Goat rocks is big and there is a lot to see and explore. Best thing about it that there is first come first serve permit system. No lottery, no allocated pool of permits and other complicated ways of getting back country permit. Of course, there is a little drawback to that. It’s sometimes a bit difficult to find open campsite but still better than nothing. Also, if you get even more to alpine zone, there is not that many trees at all, or they are stunted and not that many options for hammock setups. Interesting why you chose the Packwood side and not the PCT side where the Old snowy, knifes edge, Cispus pass sheep lake etc.

Ok, I know I already commented earlier but I had the time to watch the entire video and I must say, I have sincerely missed you! You guys were in a National Forest. You can camp anywhere in a National "Forest" (not Park) if you are at least 100 ft off of the trail and 100 ft away from water. I found this out when my son and I went to Maroon Bells in 2018. (You were the inspiration for that trip.) That was the White River National Forest. I noticed Brandon and Hallie (sp) were rocking Outdoor Vitals ShadowLight 60L backpacks. That is my backpack of choice! What were you thinking not bringing a hammock rig?? Haha! Tent camping is a last resort with me. Since we last exchanged comments, I have fine tuned all of my gear and can hammock camp anywhere I choose that a backpacker can hang. Lastly, great video!! Magnificent views. What a trip. I am now 66, and my son (39 yo) and I are looking at Maroon Bells in 2022 or Glacier National Park. We'll see what we decide. Great to see you on the trail again.
