Buggy in the manga is a psychopath,straight up bad ass. The actor who plays Zorro was in the Kenshin movies,so he knows sword play. We won't know if it's any good until the first episode

At first, they start with this kind of swordsmanship, and gradually show us a sword fight with speed. Many people still don't know how great he is.

Hey, I'm also longtime fan of one piece...since I was 10 years old...I'm 28 now. So, I feel so happy and proud when One Piece is so popular now. You know how much I loves the Straw Hat crew, and so sometimes I wish they were real people. I think the live action actors are growing on me... I love that they are so genuine about this and very similar to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. I'm pretty excited about the live action after seeing the trailer, it looks pretty good. I was skeptical before, but when I actually learned how much effort all of them put into this, I feel emotional and want to support them. Hopefully they really do this really well...

As another longtime fan, I just want people to find the manga/anime through this adaptation so the fandom grows even bigger. I’m also super happy how ONE PIECE blew up within the past two years on social media and all the memes. So even if it is “bad”, at least people might finally give the real show a chance from all the buzz it generates. Can’t complain if that happens. Gotta build Oda’s retirement 😂

I think the fact Oda is so heavily involved gives cause to be optimistic, i certainly am and so far this looks like it will be really fun. Also 80k dislikes? Really? Thankfully the likes outweigh them but at that point i think some people are just mindlessly hating, like i can understand skepticism based on track record of adaptations but come on! It is all about execution and this one looks very promising!

again with the luffy thing... Luffy is really clever. he made a big brain move to make Koby join the marines. He decypted in Arabasta that the problem was Crocodile and not the revolution. He mastered his fruit by watching a guy tap his feet 10 times on the ground. The decision to fight Ussop to not hurt his pride. Learnt all 3 types of haki in just 2 years... Guy is a clown. But be sure he's well aware of everything!! Maybe that dialog would be diferent on the manga. But, Oda aproved every scene on the series. Even if real Luffy wouldn't say that, he would think about doing it; but decide not to because he's playing dumb.

They can't just wave that away like the anime did His and Luffy are the toughest to handle for this S1, Alvida's DF will be easy, with current CGI Smoker's should be too

To be honest, Luffy’s moves can be really hard or impossible to replicate in real life so I really think they’re gonna change up the fight scenes quite a lot especially where Luffy inflates his body like a balloon, yeah..

8:56 Actually, there was another shot of Luffy using his devil fruit power. 8:34 The big difference is it happens so fast it's easy to miss, but that's also to the benifit of the effect. The shot at the end, they put all the focus on it to allow the audience time to over analyze it and it ultimately comes down to how good or bad it looks. But the shot from earlier, it happens so fast and subtley that we have less of a chance to be pulled out of the moment.

I feel like ppl misunderstanding that this is not a live action adaptation from the anime but MANGA. Oda specifically asking that they follow manga as best possible, so ofc they gonna present Buggy as nuts and scary person cuz that's him in the manga, i also saw some ppl complaining about Luffy wearing hawaiian shirt, again, that's from manga, Luffy was wearing a hawaiian shirt as a concept art. I do understand that the anime is a thing and that ppl can hardly get around to understand some stuff that is prob gonna be in this show and wasn't in anime simply cuz it's gonna follow up manga rather than anime, also its gonna be on english and it will sound cringe or corny but tbh you can't make it better than this.

As a one piece super fan I never would have thought that one piece can be done right in live action, until I started hearing Matt Owens(head writer) on a number of op live streams talking about his process when it came to adapting this series an now I have nothing but faith in this show. Already I caught a bunch of easter eggs put in this teaser alone that tells me Matt will do this series right, and he even got the blessing from Goda himself an to me that's all I need to know.

I got intno anime a little while back (like fifteen years ago?) and One Piece is the one anime I remain ejoying. It was a consistent burn of 7.5 enjoyment until you grow nostalgic and that burn never goes away. Now I can't get enough and it all comes from enjoying it and never stopping the enjoyment. It's a 7.5 that just keeps getting better because it's so consistent you start looking forward to it. And the good moments stand out so brightly too.

I thought you were a fan? Buggy did not come off creepy when he was introduced in the anime? He was creepy, he killed a person. He is a pirate dressed and looked like a clown. Who wouldn't be terrified? He started being goofy when he interacted with Luffy. And the character development comes many many arcs after he was introduced. Of course in the live action he will be much creepier. But I am hoping and trusting Rogersbase words that we will love Buggy.

Why do people keep saying "As we all know, Netflix has a poor track record when it comes to adaptations"? Why? Why do you all insist on sticking with that lie? Netflix does nòt have it's own studio. They outsource èverything. The US Death Note adaptation was by WB. The adaptations of Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach and I believe Full Metal Alchemist as well, are àll by WB Japan. And Cowboy Bebop and One Piece are by Tomorrow Studios. Tomorrow Studios, btw, is filled with nerds and geeks and otaku. They've already adapted multiple novels; Hanna and Snowpiercer, to name two. They are èxtremely motivated and with child-like excitement talk about both anime adaptations. Rights to boss had been chasing after for years. John Cho, who played Spike. Was trying to get a live action Bebop since he was in his early 20's. That's mòre than two decades ago. The sets of both these adaptations are detailed af. The dedication and love poured into both projects is unseen in Hollywood these days. Last time I saw a studio put so much effort and love and dedication into a project was Game of Thrones. And that became the biggest show of all time, despite many changes. Before that is was Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Studios rarely put this much into a project out of fear for faillure. The fact that Tomorrow Studios went 200%, despite the risks, should alone earn all of your respect. But it's clear that people care more about the online negative vote, than that they would inform themselves on the topic at hand. Anime live action doesn't work because this community doesn't allow it. You attack live action adaptations as if they murdered your wife and then forced you to eat your own firstborn child while you have to make love to your dog and clean the toilet with your tongue. You people need to get over yourselves. They owe you nothing. If you think that being a fan is like a loyalty card and you get better treatment and more say the longer you are a fan; then you people don't know what it means to be a fan. You made the choice yourselves to buy anything you own, to spend your free time on anything you did. You did that. They owe you nothing for that. All you did, was turn pages, pressed play and hit some buttons. At most, you knittes your own outfit. All of these things are things you decided to do, all on your own. Do you ask your friends for loyalty rewards too? "We've been friends for 15 years now. I feel like you could do better than your wife, and your kids are a hassle. It's time for a reboot with all the golden oldies." Is that how you view loyalty? Because then you s.ck as a person. Speaking to everyone. You can not build on hate. The trailer was great but this video was a breakdown, not a Reaction. The fights in the beginning of One Piece were slow too, so it doesn't matter. Buggy appeared as menacing character, after his defeat, he started to be a goofy character. But I agree that Luffy could be reacting in some other way with Zoro and Nami's scene

We have been reading/watching One Piece for a very long time. So it's understandable that we will compare this live action to the original source material. It's inevitable. We can't control ourselves not to compare. But also, we have to remember it's impossible to adapt 1:1 of the manga/anime to live action. It will never happen. Some things are meant to be in animated form only, some can be translated. That's why they have to find the perfect balance of staying true to the original source, but also trying new things that would make sense in the live action format. Personally, I am optimistic about the live action. All of the cast, the people behind the cameras, the writers and show runners are massive fans of One Piece. Hopefully they will do justice.

The changes between the interation among the crew, yeah it’s not the same but you gotta keep in mind that it is beyond impossible to transfer anime comedy to real life, so they just went with the other option. Imo, I like the change rather than it being cringe.

zoro is one of the actors in rurouni kenshin! so his sword fights will be dope and amazing! as too buggy he came out in the fist manga as a crazy pirate. he killed his crew by choking him then bomb the village two times. i quite like buggy in this one.

They should've made the costumes look little bit more darker colours tone to make it look more realistic. It looked cosplay more often the time is because they always choose much lighter colors to look exactly like the anime that don't work always in a live-action movies or series. So far it doesn't look that bad for this though.

I feel like you are being far too critical in this review. You just keep talking about the anime and what you want but you don't seem to be looking at the whole picture. With oda being a producer on this project I don't think he would allow them to put something in or do something for the adaptation that he didn't like or didn't feel would benefit the overall project of the live action. There are a few small details that seem off in the trailer yes but these are little details that could easily be overlooked if the project as a whole turned out well. Things like usops nose for example. Yes they could use a prosthetic made of silicone or malleable wax but then when it comes to practicality it might cause trouble because sweating, action movements, getting wet, all these things would potentially mess with the prosthetic. I personally think that people should wait to critique the project until after they have watched it because that's the only way to get the full picture of how the project will be. Watching the trailer you don't get enough from it to be able to say without a doubt if it will be good or not. I personally am excited and look forward to Watching the live action adaptation. If I don't like it after watching it then at least I watched it and gave it a fair try before critiquing it. I'm excited to see how they will bring the series to life first and foremost above all else.

Stretching powers will never look very good in live action. It didn't look very good in fantastic 4, and i can bet you MARVEL MONEY won't make it look better. the luffy reaction is my biggest take from this trailer, the rest i can understand why they did it like that, and so on, but I promise you, Luffy would NEVER say "im sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew". Its not really how we have gotten to know him nor is it in his vocabulary

I don't understand why all you veteran fans are being so kind on your initial impressions. They have royally messed up casting Lufi D Monkey, one of the GOAT fictional characters and it's clear as day to see. He sounds wrong. Looks too serious and too old. It's terrible and GARBAGE. End of story!
