He was able to narrow the pool of suspects down to a family by using genealogical databases that use DNA, and make an educated guess as to who the perpetrator was based on the time and place of the murder. They may have exhumed the suspect to obtain a DNA sample, I'm not sure.
@kadraeallday55822 жыл бұрын
DNA testing of the evidence found on the girl, allowed him to begin searching for things that matched. It takes even longer when you don't know where the source is coming from so he had to cross reference probably everybody in that area with similar types from the beginning and work his way backwards. Starting over at every dead end until a possible match could be found with somebody who is dead. Then testing the DNA on the corpse found that they were indeed a 100% match. Lucky the killer had people who cared about him enough to bury him. Genealogy of the future is going to run into dead ends due to mass cremation.

This kid could start his own investigative consulting company. But he rendered his expertise on his own volition. This is the one and main rudimentary reasons why criminals haven't gotten away. Because they're more intelligent than these dumbass pigs. Kudos to you young man, only good karma will follow you for the rest of your life. Although justice wasn't served, but you brought closure to a family, and closed the cold case.
