Great video, and series. My 2004 Taurus is experiencing transmission problems. Im trying to decide what to do. These videos have been great. Now I at least have a better idea of what a repair might entail.

i have a2005 FORDTAURUS...3.0 VULCAN problem....only when hot weather say 70 degrees you can drive and say interstate aprox 20 miles....you stop and take back off...it slips between first and second...3 and 4 is good...being going on for a year....winter weather it shifts greatly...not trans codes....dont see speedometer slipping...i keep fluid changed...was wondering is bad tranmission temp sensor...and if so where could it be.

How many miles were on this transmission and was the fluid and filter changed regularly on it? Trying to get some data on how to extend the life of these transmissions.

There's two big problems that I know of which cause failure in the ax4n when is a torque converter which I did not know about it until recently with these videos and the other one are in complete bore diameters for lubrication holes obviously this is the problem if you don't have proper lubrication or flow you're not going to get substantial life

Great video! I'm going through this right now and this really helped. I had the same burned up the intermediate clutch. I'm running into the same problem where I can't quite get the last support (one that holds the driven sprocket) to go in all the way. It sticks out about a half inch. I've pulled all the drums and everything out and put them back several times and it always sticks out about a half inch. Did you figure out what was keeping yours from going in right?

Hi great video. I am fixing my windstar with basicly the same transmission in learned a lot. I have not taken it apart yet but the problem is that it has burned everything inside. How do I know how the components have to look for them not to be defective? Do you have a good online source? Again thanks for the great video.

Well I just start looking for things that are burnt looking. Then first look at clutches, seals etc. I'm no expert but I usually fix just whats broken and have pretty good luck at it. As for sources, youtube , videos and google....lol The way of 2016! Good luck.

Pump shaft is stripped out at the core converter it's not pumping oil anymore

Transmission in my 2004 freestar will go in gear and pull for about 20 to 100 feet just fine then it disengages like it's in nuetral do you have any ideas of what the problem is?

Mine won’t stay in low, it shifts into 2nd with the selector in L.

Seals were good. After I fixed it it ran great!

also, those teflon bushings get messed up SUPER easy if you have to take them in and out a bit.. just watch it and put on liberal amounts of translube so everything slides back together and no damage is done.
