Hi Nathan,thanks for the video, learn something about the mystery filters. You mention you might help your friend out and you mentioned serval time about dropping something down the engine and having a tuff time get it out. Been there done that and what help was placing a towel below the engine just to fill the space or place it so there pocket to catch any that fall down there. Save time from digging it out. Good luck and you should wear gloves!!

Nathan, thank you for making the effort to educate the rest of us. The constant camera movement made it very difficult for me to watch. As somebody else mentioned getting the injectors cleaned is a good option. A quick search brought up numerous businesses that provide injector cleaning/inspection services. Some of those services specifically mention marine outboard motor injectors as a specialty. I was shocked at the retail OEM price of nearly $400 per injector. However searching, a well known online store, with the Yamaha part number for the 2001 HPDI 200hp engine I am dealing with, I found 6 aftermarket injectors that are advertised as being a match to the Yamaha OEM injectors for a total of $100 (that's all 6). $2,400 vs. $100 sounds like too wide of a price point difference and "too good to be true". In any case thank you for your video. - Respectfully

Does this mean the injectors are in the head tighter than the Mystery Filters are in the injectors themselves? Is this why the filters come out, but the injectors stay in? Aren't the injectors just pressed in just like the filters? On cars with high pressure each injector has a bracket holding the injector in so it won't blow out due to 4000 psi at WOT

I don't understand why you didn't get the CORRECT screw in the first place It has to be metric and a common one at that I saw a video where a guy used a sheet metal screwto remove them I couldn't believe it

I said it from the begining, not a professional on the end! I'm am IT guy, so we are lucky that I did not use a machine screw from a server rack or a counter case. Have a great Christmas!!!

I'm going to order the filters To remove them I'm going to use the correct metric screw and a small slide hammer I got from Harbor Freight As long as you have a straight shot outward from the injector there should not be a problem Cars injectors don't have removeable filters Maybe DIs do, but Port Injection ones do not The final filter is in the injector and is not removable I don't see the need to send these injectors out if you replace the filters All the shop is going to do is test the solenoid and charge $20 each I can't test the solenoid myself with a 12V BATT and 2 jumper wires

I'm not getting fuel to my fuel rails on my 150 v max 2000 model any idea where I can start
@ke4rcf2 жыл бұрын
Repeating, I am not a boat mechanic, but.... From memory the rails are fed by a pump at the top of the motor where pressure is built up for the injectors. That pump is fed from the reservoir on the left side of the motor. In that reservoir there is a float and a filter. If the float does not move you can run out of fuel. Seems like there is some kind of pump inside that also. On the back end of the reservoir there is a plug about the size of a pencil that moves up and down. I think that controls the amount of fuel let into the reservoir. There is also a small pin hole that stays open all of the time. Mine was clogged. I ran 1 small maybe 1/16th bit through it by hand. There is also a filter between the reservoir and the pump at the top of the motor. Sorry that I can't be of more help!!!!

If you take that reservoir apart you may need a new gasket. It is a small rubber tube gasket. Fun to get to go back on correctly...

where do you buy these filters i can see it on diagram where i buy my parts online .

I bought mine from "Allzone" on eBay. Here is the link: www.ebay.com/itm/20-HPDI-Yamaha-Outboard-Fuel-Injector-Filter-Baskets-LZ-Z-150hp-175hp-200hp/381711073527?hash=item58dfc0c0f7:g:PwkAAOSwZVlXknYR

i have a small problem i have a 200 hpdi vmax when i go like full throttle as soon as i hit 55 rpm it studders like it isnt getting enough fuel so when i stay on the 40 rpm it keeps me smooth ..... then another i see is before my engine went all to 60 rpm but now it will only go to 52 rpm and with the stutter problem
@ke4rcf6 жыл бұрын
I am not a boat mechanic, BUT... I am presuming that you are in the water with it in gear? I noticed that I was trying to rev the engine at home and unless I put it in gear it will not idle up. It will actually die on me.
@ke4rcf6 жыл бұрын
Did you mean mph instead of rpm? I have another video that I need to put together and post on the fuel system. On my boat there are two mechanical fuel pumps on the side of the engine that pump fuel to the reservoir. In the reservoir there is another fuel pump with a filter that feeds the high pressure pump on top of the motor. So, check that filter in the reservoir. Be careful with the gasket on that one. Also inside that reservoir there is a float with a pin valve. Mine had to be cleaned out.

yes when im in the water in gear .only in gear you can rev the engine higher than 15 rpm . my speedometer broke so im working with my rpm . my boat was sitting for like 6 months because my gearbox got broken and didnt had time to fix it .so when i fixed it and tested the boat i got the problem that my boat didnt wanted to do the 60 rpm any more the max was 50 to 52 rpm when i was still holding the thriottle at 54 rpm it started to stuter you know like it doesnt get enough fuel to hold the 52 rpm so what i did is drop it to 40 rpm and there it was going smooth like nothing is wrong so i sat down and was thinking this is a fuel problem my engine isnt getting enough fuel .

in the reservoir do you mean the vst filter? i already changed the 2 fuel pomp that pump fuel in the svt filter i will try the pin valve changing also and the svt filter
@virgilfernandes35116 жыл бұрын
what about the strainer ?? on top of the svt filter ?
@9ballrunout6 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't you after exposing the fuel injector just removed them and have them professionally clean and pressure checked...it cost around $20 per injector.....after watching this video that's going to be my plan.....

As I stated, I am not a professional. That really sounds like a good suggestion. Hindsight is always 20/20. Now I just have to find someone to do that. I am glad that you got something out of the video. I really need to get the video about the vapor separator tank published.
