It's hard to believe this car is 23 years old, time flies. What a great weekend car this would make. Thank you as always High Octane Classics, Super Shane, and of course Mr Magnante ~ Chuck

Great to hear your smooth , measured voice again Steve. I ordered a 99 C5 coupe with Z51 and a 6 speed manual. I still have it and couldn't agree more with your description. Take care and hope to see you soon again!

Took a ride in a C5 many years ago. I was the passenger and when the driver jumped on it, we lost traction just long enough to think we'd need new underwear. lol

HighOctane classics with Steve M. What a combo. Best wishes to who ever buys this car. You will be able to download this video as well. How cool for if you go to sell this car in the future you have Steve M. Going through the car.

Hey Steve-O you're spot-on fella' ! A buyer of the C8 model can check the box during the ordering phase and head to Kentucky for delivery. In addition, an option is also offered to receive driver training on their closed test track. This includes one of Chevrolet's professional drivers to provide driver guidance. Pretty sweet deal booby ! 🚘 💯

C5 is a timeless classic that doesn’t look dated. I had one for almost 10ys then upgraded to a C6 Grand Sport.

🤔??? You state 345 HP??? My 2002 is listed @ 350 HP...

Top speed on a stock non-Z06 C5 6-speed is 175 mph. I’m not sure about the automatic. The Z06 would run 168 mph due to the shorter gearing.

The title of the video says 2002 model year, when in fact this is a 2001 model year with the VIN for the win: 1G1 for US made Chevrolet, YY for Corvette, 3 for two door convertible, 2 for manual seat belts with dual air bags, G for 5.7L V8 with MFI, aka RPO code "LS1", aka "Brother from another Chevrolet Mother", 9 is a check digit, 1 for the 2001 model year ("2" would be for the 2002 model year), 5 for Bowling Green, KY assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Bowling Green KY plant has produced Corvettes since 1981 and still does so today. Not correct, the 1982 Corvettes (last of the C3 models) were all fuel injected and that engine carried over for the 1984 model year, both using the 5.7L "Crossifire" aka "Missfire" V8 with TBI. It was replaced by MFI in the Corvette for the 1985 model year (RPO code L98) which then ran through the 1992 model year. In 1993, the RPO code LT1 engine N(VIN code "P") debuted in the Corvette. We got the SPID, glad you did: AAB for memory convenience package, AG2 for six way power passenger seat, AK5 for dual airbag system, AQ9 for reclining driver's seat, BGR for Bowling Green KY assembly, B34 for carpeted floor mats, CJ2 for automatic temperature control, C05 for folding convertible top, DD0 for left and right power and heated mirror, light sensitive, DD8 for automatic tilt and light sensitive inside rear view mirror, DL5 for roadside information decal, FE3 for sport suspension, G90 for 3.15:1 rear axle ratio, G92 for merchandising option for performance rear axle ratio, JL4 for active control brake, JL9 for four wheel power disc braking system with antilock, K63 for 110 amp alternator, LS1 for 5.7L V8, MX0 for automatic transmission merchandising option, M30 for 4L60E four speed automatic overdrive transmission, NG1 for restricted area/geography emission system, NC7 for Federal emission override, NK4 for sport leather steering wheel, N37 for tilt and telescoping steering column, QF5 for 17x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear polished aluminum wheels, T82 for automatic on/off headlight control, T96 for front fog lamps, UN0 for AM-FM stereo seek/scan with CD player, auto tone, clock and ETR radio, UV6 for heads up display, UZ6 for six speaker system, U52 for electronic instrument cluster, U75 for chrome power antenna, VM3 for certification decal, including 5 MPH front and rear bumper compliance statement, V49 for license plate frame, V73 for US/Canada vehicle statement, XGG for P245/45ZR17 front tires, YGH for P275/40ZR18 rear tires, Z51 for performance handling package, 1SC for sales option package #3, 19I for Black interior trim, 193 for Black/Ebony leather interior trim, 41U for Black lower exterior paint and 41T for Black convertible top. Correct, option code R8C is for the Bowling Green tour experience/delivery and ship to code 184590 must also be specified.

Good to see Steve on KZbin, and glad to see the back of the ugly big nosed Corvette's... finally GM has caught up with the Mid engine trend and the C8 takes the vette back from the 70s ugly massive beaked eyesores to something with taste!

Z51 is great but pretty stiff on this Gen and others. Personally, I would prefer my Vette without it.
