Thank you so much! My E500 had the same issue- even the trunk! Turns out the rear S.A.M. is located back there and shorting out due to water. Fixed that and continued to have electrical problems two weeks later. Pine and redwood tree needles in the cowl.... carpet is out drying now. These are incredibly well engineered vehicles, they make terrible submarines though.

@@FirstLast-et3swObviously you’ve never owned one. They’re considered by many to be one of the last great MB’s before cheapening/cost cutting/disposability took priority. They’ll still be on the road for decades more, long after the newer ones have been scrapped

Thanks, my 2011 w211 has almost the same problem and cleaning those little drains under the hood seems to fix it.

This my problem also, with E270 from 2002. It was the propably cause for a 1800€ damage to my electronics under the driver's seat...

Ehh... You gotta pull the seat and carpet... at the least half of the carpet to the center and dry it out. After that you will easily see the Floorplan drain plugs.

The drains under the belly pan (from the undercarriage looking up don't align with the interior floor drains... as in the floor pan is double walled. Your going to have to remove seat and at least remove ¹/2 the carpet to access drains and dry carpet and foam. It sucks but it's doable., even for a novice.

@joekennedy7910 Thanks, I was able to clear out the drains. There was a lot of leafy material and such but no more water moving about. I also keep it in the garage moving forward. I appreciate the advice.
