68 thousand views? You would think there would be more compliments here. Thank you for posting this video, you saved me so much time in research. The Fram gasket worked like a charm. It fit a little loose but I have confidence it will work. The OEM gasket is still not available from the dealer but the newer oil cooler is and its gasket.

I made a mess with the coolant. It gave me a good reason to flush the system though. I need to figure out plug stoppers for the hoses next time.
@fonz660r87 жыл бұрын
Starface111 thank you I appreciate that, to be honest as far as the oil cooler lines with the coolant there was enough slack to just flip the oil cooler housing sideways with out removal of the rubber hoses.

It was nice to take it out and thoroughly clean it and the area around where it mounts. I think this was leaking for a while so it was pretty grungie down there. It looks really good now. 2004 Titan 215,000 miles.

Thanks for uploading the video. I fixed my leak after I'd changed oil and filter. I replaced the seal without draining of oil just removed the filter only. I lost a half quart of oil that's all. I noticed that the old seal was in good shape but the bolt that holds the oil cooler was out of torque not tighten at all. Possibly all I needed was to re-torque the bolt at 36 ft-lb that may fix the leak. Oil pressure at idle is only 14 psi and at 2000 rpm is 43 psi that low.

I take my Titan to a shop to get an oil change and service on time every time . They didn't even tell me about the oil leak. I asked my friend who is a mechanic, he thought it was oil pressure switch. After watching the video I went right to the store bought the Fram. The rest is history. Thanks for the Christmas gift

FYI, the FRAM gasket does not fit the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. The Pathfinder takes the larger gasket. I ended up flipping over the old gasket, (it had shape memory already) reassembling the cooler and no more leaks... for now... At least next time I'll be prepared with the OEM gasket. Thanks for the video, it made things easy to attack.

The high pressure does come from the oil pressure switch. Its on thw right side of the oil cooler. I also had that issue from one day to thw next starting showing high pressure. Chamge out the swit h. It is also easy. But be careful the line next to the pressure switch has to br removed it carries coolant about 1 gallon. So keep a bucket near by. Good luck brother.

fonz660R! I owe you a beer! It worked out very well. I have a 2004 Titan and I figured out that it was leaking near the oil filter. It turns out that it was the oil cooler gasket. I took your advice and used the gasket off of the Frame oil filter. It was slightly smaller than the orginal gasket, but I went with it. This took me about 90 minutes. And I am sure that I saved $300-400! Thanks, Bro!

I belive the oil cooler us larger but you can see if the dealer carries the oring for a 2007. I belive the should due to that's the current oil cooler sold. Ask for the oil cooler oring.

Where did you clamp the coolant line??
@deltabravo57198 жыл бұрын
I think he changed his mind mid prj and decided not to remove the hoses/ or clamp them. If you removed the oil cooler entirely for either replacement or repair... clamping the hoses would have saved coolant and potential air bubbles being trapped followed by over heat situation. in short. the process for replacing the oil seal on the inside of the oil cooler does not require removal of the the coolant hoses.

Great vid man. Dealer wanted to charge me $160 to change this seal. Are you able to change it without emptying the oil? Just replace the oil that comes out when you take the filter off? Reason I'm asking is because they just changed the oil and said I could wait until next oil change to change the seal because the didn't have it in stock.

@fonz660R11 жыл бұрын
the o ring will fix the small oil leak. the high oil pressure comes from the oil pressure switch. the switch is the only switch on the oil cooler. Cant miss it the only elertical switch attached to the oil cooler. I also swaped this part out. easy as well. dissconect the electrical clip from the switch unbolt the switch replace with new and reattach the electrical clip. if your doing the o ring you should do both at the same time, the switch runs about 100. good luck feel free to ask any questions if you have any
