Thanks for the video. I just finished replacing mine. Took about 3 hours, though should have been about 2 if I had read below about pulling the gas pedal and amp bracket. Fairly straight forward with once you figure out how to get all the screws out. Used a combination of the 5.5 socket and wrench for the actuator, a 6mm wrench for the heater plate I shouldn't have had to take off , 10mm socket for the amp bracket and a 12 mm socket for the gas pedal. The video above helped out with seeing where the screws were, and VERY glad I didn't have to take the dash off!!!
@stunnasam217 жыл бұрын
Whhoooaaaaaaaa dude, all you gotta do is remove the lower plastics, gas pedal assembly (3 12mm nuts and 2 8mm bolts) and then about 4 or 5 10mm bolts to drop the BOSE amp and bracket and you have access. Took me a little over 2 hours. This is the epitome of OVERKILL

Quality video showing most of us that own one of these older models of Nissan Titan, Armada and Infiniti QX56 which are pretty much all the same Truck/SUV, just what is behind the dash. Also, I like that you showed us the exact location of the problem Blend Door Actuator as I can hear my issue in my truck too. Yes, I heard there are easier ways to do this, but the video still was very informative. Just being able to see the faulty BDA makes me more prepared to replacing mine. Now I know how to get to the Heater or AC components on the Passenger side that I hope never fail, behind the glove box compartment. BTW if you are still in that zip code LMK.

Just FYI you don't have to take that much off. I just removed mine & didn't take long. Remove the black box w/ 3 plugs that is between that actuator & the OBD2 connector. Disconnect the gas pedal assembly & swing it out of the way, then the metal bracket & aluminum module that the black box bolted to will slide down & out. You can then get to the actuator bolts.

I have the exact same make and model Nissan.....I also have the exact same problems with it. When I turn the truck off or very shortly after ignition there is that annoying thump...thump....thump....now my horn just suddenly stopped working as well as my cruise control, and volume button on the steering wheel.....thanks for sharing this video it will definitely help me to resolve the problems.
@michaeljordan42758 жыл бұрын
MrDirtdart yeah the horn and cruise control will be the Clock Spring for the steering. they break in due to turning the wheel to far too far to either side.

I took my truck to the garage and they told me it would be a little over $1200.00 plus tax to fix it, so with tax that's close to $1500.00 Canadian. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of $1100.00 American. I thought that was a bit much so I have just put up with the no cruise or other buttons working. I have not done the fix myself because I was worried that the airbag would explode in my face if I started to tamper with it. As far as the thumping noise, that drove me nuts for the first couple years, now I just think of it as a rap tune without the instruments...just the beat...lol Do you happen to know what the part numbers are for the clock spring and the little black box? We drive from Ontario to Florida every year for a month and having cruise sure would be nice again. Thanks alot eh.....this video has probably saved me a ton of money!! BTW...if you happen to know where I could purchase accessories for my truck like wheel spacers and other stuff a link would be appreciated as well...

Just did mine today and it was a lot quicker - take off the trim and steel plate below the steering column. Then remove the airbag controller and RF amp (if equipped). The bracket that held those two pieces is your worst enemy. I trimmed about 3 inches off mine (only the side closest to the center console) with a dremel because that piece prevents you from having easy access to the actuator. With it trimmed, the whole operation is not too bad. How much have people been quoted at the stealership to get this fixed?

If it helps anyone. I had the same clicking noise. I turned the ac dial all the way to full heat and the clicking stopped. I slowly turned it back to the cold side all the way and it started clicking again. So I tinkered with the dial and it would only click past the 2nd to coldest level. So I ran my ac on the 3rd coldest level for a year to avoid the clicking noise. I recently changed my cabin air filters and now the noise is gone.

I have a 2010 Titan. I've replaced two of the actuators in mine. I've replaced the one just above the gas pedal and the one behind the glovebox. As long as you have the right tools, just remove the lower plastic on the driver's side to access the ones in the video. However, the dash must be taken out for the one behind the glovebox. And, you can purchase the actuators from RockAuto for a much lower price.

Great video, just one question So when taking apart the dash did any of the clips break on them? The reason I ask is because I have the same issue. I took my truck to the dealer and they quoted me $2300 because they would have to replace my whole dash because according to them, when they go in to replace the part, the plastic clips that hold the panels break and they need to be replaced. So essentially, to replace a $40 part, I need to spend $2300 because I would also have to buy new dashboard panels… Just want to make sure they’re not trying to rip me off Thank you!

Air bag light is easy! Just turn key to on position, the air bag light will be solid. Then as it starts to blink, (is no long on solid) turn key to lock position, pull key out wait 5 seconds. Repeat 3 time then light should blink slowly. If its blinking slowly you reached diagnostic mode. Turn key back to lock, and out. Then wait 10 seconds put key back in turn to on position, light should be solid then it turn off. Start vehicle and it should be gone! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!

Your airbag light was flashing and your horn not working probably along with your cruise control I can’t remember if you mentioned that as well but that is all because of the clock spring. With a Phillips screwdriver, a 10 mm socket, a pick or a flat head screwdriver you will need to take out the airbag module also there was one more tool you will need that I forgot and that is a 19 mm socket the Nissan titan steering wheel does not need a steering wheel pulley to takeoff, just make sure that you lock the steering wheel in place before removing. As I’m sure you know by now considering all of the dismantling you’ve done the clock spring has nothing to do with the knocking under the dash....... separate issue.
