The Toyota 3.5L V-6 is a beast on the highway. I have driven this car approx 70k with zero issues, I am not having any currently but I feel I owe the Avalon some TLC. I only use Amsoil signature 5/30 synthetic motor oil, and I do an engine flush each time. Plus I only use the top line Wix XP filters. It is time because the car has 232k kilometers. Thank you so much for posting your knowledge on KZbin. KZbin is the University of Automotive Gear-heads, and people like you sharing your videos, makes you our Gear-head professors. Much gratitude my friend. I do a trans oil change every year to a year and a half.

Not difficult at all just requires a little diligence. I'm happy to do a job like this because it only is required every 100k or so and it's a tank of a motor. A little extra work doesn't mean a bad design. And furthermore it's a good time to get in and inspect for leaks and clean things up.

Just did mine on 2015 avalon at 140k. Not as hard as it seemed I first rhought I could bypass the cowl removal but had no luck with. The passenger side braket to intake bolt. Took off cowl. And it was so much more accessable am glad I did. The job took me around 4 hrs but I took my time and cleaned and reconditioned everything I could to give it a proper lnstall. I also put anyiseize on plugthreads and dialectic grease on new coil on boots What a difference in the performance with the new denso irridium tt plugs. Well worth the time taken and saved$ The local mechanic wanted to charge twelve hundred for plugs, air filter and cabin filter!!! I ssid i can do filters they said of 9 and change for plugs!!! Lol!!!. Take pictures and proceed slowly- if you can turn a wrench you can do it as well!!

Just watched your engine rebuild od Toyota Camry 2.4 liter. First, when tightening Head Bolts,turn the engine 90° so the head is on the side, not the top! The engine stand will not roll around as you torque the head bolts. Second, I 'm old and have not done this in a while, but piston rings with oversized pistons are extra long on purpose. You insert the ring in the resized bore and mark it and grind for the appropriate ring end clearance. My Dad swore by grinding ends on a diagonal to reduce blow by and oil use.

This is a very thorough video and this is a perfect video if you have power tools, and anyway to lift the car… or something because it’s definitely not a job for short people. And I will also add, if you have a misfire it is also possibly a valve cover gasket!. Is bad therefore, oil has gotten into the spark plugs to make a misfire. So that being said this could be a much wasted time project… as I have found out tonight… That also being said, this is the kind of job that you may have to pay a mechanic or even a dealer… the first easy spark plugs? Had some very little faint oil on it and I honestly thought nothing of it… but when I got to the back ones?!! finally after hours… I pulled the plugs out. They had oil on them…. As soon as you see that …you have bigger problems of why you have a misfire … now you have to buy head gaskets and valve cover gaskets…. and find out where the oil leak is out. I’m not trying to complain about the video. I’m just posting this for anyone, who is deciding to take this job because of this video.. Just be aware that there is more possible reasons than just faulty spark plugs … Bad spark plugs and ignition coils can be the reason of oil being on them … Highly recommend if you have a vehicle like this? that involves all this work? to take it to somebody ….. you’ll save yourself a lot of time… money can always come back to your pockets….
@ValleyMobileAutomotiveАй бұрын
@@DallasStoppleman Thank you for your comment. Sorry it was a struggle for you. If you have oil in the spark plug well then a new valve cover gasket set is required. You don't need a head gasket just the valve cover gasket. New spark plug tube seals should come with the new gasket.

Not to be a know-it-all, but NGK does specify to NOT use anti-seize on their plug threads stating the thread finish they use has anti-seize properties and the use of liquid anti-seize can throw the torque spec way off. I went through all this lengthy conversation with NGK and commenters on my NGK HX Ruthenium Plug YT videos, so I'm well versed with this. OTOH, who TF torques their plugs anyway, so there's that argument for not worrying about using liquid anti-seize. Just food for thought here.
