Nice video, I'm getting ready to tune up my 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. Was there a bolt pattern you used for tightening the intake manifold?

Probably suppised to start in the inside, work your way out, and do it progressively about 3 or 4 times.

Cool video, I was wondering how am I suppose to reach the spark plugs that are against the fire wall not knowing the plastic intake would need to be removed..duhh..lol. I will be working on the wife's car tomorrow doing this 👍🇺🇸..

My 06 Lincoln zephyr takes three tries cranking for the engine to fire when I first start it in the morning would doing a tune up solve that issue so it starts every time? I don’t have any battery, alternator, or timing issues.

Does a 2006 mercury model follow the same steps as this video? Also, if the car is shaking, is that a problem that can be caused by needing a tune up?

help, i replaced the plugs coils, got the ecm repaired and sent back to me after it was tested. i'm still not seeing spark. just to be safe i replaced the camm sensors in case one was non functional, and the keyfob battery because this key was old and the batery had already been leaking inside. still nothing, i checked the wires and everything is connected properly so at this point i'm thinking that its the the immobilizer causing my headaches?

You might want to see if it has any codes. Also most of the time, when you get a refurbished module, the fobs need to be programmed. There should be a blinking security light or something, indicating that the key is not working.

@@RustBeltAuto so there are no codes my scanner is seeing but yeah i think its going to be a case of that, i'm just wondering if its worth the money to take it to the dealer at this point.

Farthest cylinder forward is firewall passenger side (left front facing front of engine). That's #1. 1-2-3 firewall side. 4-5-6 radiator side.

I’m about to get plugs for mine I’m thinking about just running coppers plugs but they won’t last as long but they are a lot cheaper

I always run o.e. plugs. whatever it came with from the factory. Otherwise you could have runability issues in the future. Do it right, and forget about it.

@@RustBeltAuto I run NGK V-Power Copper in damn near everything I own. They last about 20,000 miles depending what you put them in. Copper is the best conductor & will not over heat like Platinum or iridium will. Never had any problems ever with these plugs, in fact everything runs better but that might be my imagination ? THANKS FOR THE GREAT INFORMATIVE VID. LMAO at some of your comments you made while you were working on that engine.

@@NoWr2Run I like original equipment. That is what it was made to run with. Anything else can give you diagnostic nightmares in the future. You can even end up fixing a problem, and not the cause.

I would of clean out that plenum intake while you had it disconnected. As well as the throttle body housing. Then suck up some seafoam in the vacuum hose that runs to the plenum intake. Its usually connects to the brake booster. It'll help burn up all of that carbon build up that accumulated over the yrs. I've added this with every basic spark plug replacement tune-up. You could also tighten up the throttle cable as well. It usually will losen up tension over the yrs. Doing that alomg with the intake cleaning and seafoam will make a huge difference in the response of the vehicle. Often creating an almost night and day result. The car will sound better as well, along with as well. Helping it get better gas mileage in the process. Then Id add a basic aftermarket cone filter as well to help it breathe much better. It'll run like new too! Its definitely a must do maintenance to add to every tune up. Its something that you'll be able to notice results instantly after doing it. I recommend anyone to try it, especially if you haven't ever tried it before. Ive been doing this on every car ive purchased every since my first vehicle which was a 300zxTT. Ive always babied my sports cars, but did this for SUVs, sedans, luxury cars,etc. Every engine will respond positively to getting rid of excess carbon build up. That Seafoam shit works wonders, you can also throw some in your gas tank to clean the fuel injectors. Or you can put it in the crankcase for a couple hundred of miles before an oil change as a motor flush of sorts. In fact I always purchase 2 bottles for this exact reason. Ill empty 2/3rds of a bottle into my crankcase. About a wk before I do the tune up. Then the day before I do the work, Ill throw the remainder of it in the gas tank. I will then use the whole can to suck up through the vacuum hose. Its important that its the hose going to the plenum intake. As I previously stated it'll be the hose that also goes to the brake booster. Disconnect the end that goes to the brake booster. Start the car and let the vacuum and gravity empty out the can. There will be a ton of smoke pouring out from the exhaust. This will also be a perfect time to look for any small exhaust leaks. Now depending on how bad the carbon build up is. This will determine how much smoke will come spewing out from the engine. I've had some vehicles that were pretty bad. They had so much smoke that ppl thought my house was on fire. I also would sometimes drive the vehicle around the block. One time the smoke was so intense it kept pouring out. I was driving down a major road when I shifted from 1st to 2nd gear. When it discharged a thick cloud of smoke it made a smoke screen to where I couldn't see any cars behind me whatsoever! So I knew they could no longer see me as well, which was then putting others in potential danger. Anyways so proceed to Rev the engine up to help burn out that Seafoam. Keep doing this either by being in a well ventilated area or drive it with the least amount of traffic as possible. Once it finally stops smoking then turn off the vehicle. Personally this is when Id also do my oil change. Because I had put Sea Foam in the crankcase and itll need taken out asap. I also disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery. Keep it off until you've finished doing everything. Change oil, filter, tighten throttle cable, clean/replace the pcv valve if there is one, clean throttle body, air filter, etc. Once your finished enough time would of passed to also reset the ECU. You'll want this because the computer will have new readings as a result of removing all the carbon. Re attatch the negative battery terminal and you're in business. Enjoy your vehicle it should be purring like a kitten now. It'll breathe better, run smoother, be more efficient as well, more responsive, and it even may gain a few hp.
