Consider lightly oiling the o-rings and threads on the filter housing before reinstalling.

What size Filter socket did you use? 73mm. I tried using 74mm it was pretty loose and just rounded off the corners of the canister. I noticed yours fit snug as you tapped it in,

I thought manufacturer recommended full synthetic oil, not blend?

I'm looking at picking up an older escape hybrid and just wanted to see underneath. Have a few questions: 1. Does the oil pan look like it could be removed straight down relatively easily? I may have to tear into one. 2. How do you like your escape and what are you getting for city mpg? 3. Ever have to replace the hybrid battery? Thanks

The escape is running good 👍🏻 It has been reliable. When I purchased the truck I did have to replace the air blend door actuator and the 2 fans in the hybrid battery pack. I’ve also replaced the brake lines on the front because they tend to crack. Brakes have been good as I haven’t needed to change them . The biggest job I’ve had to do to the engine is the replacement of the pcv valve and pcv hose underneath the intake manifold. As far as the oil pan it’s kinda built together with the motor I believe, if not I’ll comment back. I have not needed to replace The battery 🔋 as it’s still at 93% according to FORScan. It runs well at highway speeds. My mpg could be a bit better I think 🤔 I’m only getting around 25mpg combined with street and freeway driving . But considering I carry my tools in there I think it’s good.

@@EatingGoodWithRickandJerre Hi. Out of curiosity, how did you go about bleeding the HCU when you replaced your front brake lines? I have a 2006 Escape Hybrid that I'm thinking of doing this job on as well, but the HCU bleed looks very intimidating. I know FORScan has the procedure built into it, but from reading on the FORScan forums it seems to be bugged. Mine has also recently developed an oil leak. The actual oil filter is wet with oil and it drips down onto the oil pan and the trans/engine. Need to chase that down as well. I also just replaced the HV battery with a refurbished unit from a local shop. The original lasted 17 years; not bad, but it was going dead if it sat for more than 2 days. Thanks!

Can you take the canister off without taking off the plug first mine is stripped do you have any recommendations on how to get it off

You can definitely remove the canister without removing the little plug . It’s just a bit messy as all the oil will come pouring out from the sides
