2006 Jeep Commander Antifreeze/Coolant type

The MOPAR HOAT coolant looks pink. The regular green coolant is not recommended.

Thanks Dude, just bought a 2007 Commander today and thought that pink coolant was weird, all my life currently have an XJ as well and didn't know about this coolant thing, all previous vehicles and Jeeps l used the green stuff lol Good information thank you

I have a 5.7 liter 2006 Commander, and I use the Prestone dexcool diluted 50/50 which is Hoat .

Can't mix, I learned hard way. It's all mopar 01-12 not just V8. Mopar changed it after 2013 to OAT, DEEP RED.

Should i get a flush if I used the standard coolant? My water pump was leaking and didn't know about HOAT an used the standard stuff.

OAT, Replaced the old ethglycol radiator fluid/ yellowish - green. Then HOLT, Replaced the OAT/ Watch came in Orange, red, green, pink, and blue. The current and best fluid is HOLT. Normally dark yellow or Orange. It's weird to see it in pink I think the pink is actually long life OAT in this video. The difference is the chemical makeup and if your vehicle came with it that's what should be put in it otherwise it can eat sills and water pumps causing damage. Also some of it will attack aluminum so if you have a aluminum motor radiator, basically all new vehicles bad idea.

@@robbyota5598 kinda. Ethalyne Glycol (standard) , replaced with HOAT (hybrid). Then about 2013 to OAT. My 2014 Wrangler and 08 Commander use HOAT ...buy my 2013 Charger uses OAT.... Check your manual, ;)

UGA Dawgman the only coolant that can b mixed is the PRESTONE 50/50 North American cars!! It states on bottle it can b mixed w any car any antifreeze nd can b roped off w any mix coolant !! I have it in my SRT8 as top off nd no issues

I've been using O'Riley universal 50/50 on my 06 4.7 Commander no problems I think Jeep made that shit up so you only buy their products

Hello, thanks for uploading this, I had read that you shouldn't mix antifreeze/collant, but also that you can mix prestone and other coolant, is so complicated, in Mexico is harder to get the mopar coolant, and as you a have to order it. I think that you can't mix Mopar with prestone, because the composition, Moparis made with organic components?

According to prestone you can, but after doing research it depletes the chemical makeup watch means you might as well just run regular prestone however that will ruin your system.

Srita. Jones, You are right if you're going to run something else flush your system out and just run it. do not mix. The prestone glycol can be used but not as efficient. do not use others as it might eat the aluminum.

There is something you need here to identify HOAT pink. It is MS 9769 G.

Going by the color alone isn't really adequate. As long as its a hoat coolant, it could be any color. Ingredients are what matters, not the color. For example Mopar hoat is Pink, Valvoline zerex G 05 hoat is gold, both work fine.

Good to know. Two years later, that Mopar coolant still looks bright pink in the reservoir. Very clean, and works well!

Prestone European is HOAT All you really need to know is not to mix HOAT with OAT ( which is the newest Chrysler antifreeze which is more of a purple color).

Not a Pro but flushed my entire system ( block and all) replaces water pump and radiator on a 5.7. (2007 commander).. all good with straight up Green!!

I think you need to flush out completely. Theres no but or if. Everything has lilbit different proprietary blend. Its the best rule of thump is not to mix with old and new coolant inside the radiator.

Never buy 5050 premixed antifreeze. Its a junk. Buy thick concentrated antifreeze and mix distilled water 30% or 40% out of 1 gallon ratio. Thats far more longivity and effective..

I've found here in Greece a coolant named "COMMA Xsteam G05". It mentions it is approved by Chrysler (MS-9769). Could you please tell me if it is suitable for my Dodge Caliber 1.8 2009? Should I be careful of its colour? Thank you very much!

@@georgevlachos6783 I believe that mixing the green and red would cause problems. As long as you completely drain out the old coolant, before adding new stuff, you should be fine. Using Chrysler or Mopar coolant should be the safest for a Dodge Caliber.

MOPAR HOAT is orange or pink depending on the supplier good for 5 years .MOPAR OAT is purple and is good for 10 years .

Zerex G-05 chemically identical. Can be purchased at advanced auto parts. If you buy online and pick up at store you can use their daily online coupon code and save some cash.

I have a 2006 Jeep Commander 5.7, do I need to flush the remaining coolant if I get the MOPAR HOAT 5 year / 100k mile? based on the manual that is the coolant from the dealership in my car Also what’s a price range for a mechanic to drain the system and replace?

I just flushed until it looked like most of the old brown fluid was gone. Still looks bright pink in reservoir.

Absolutely wrong. Dexcool is for GM...not Jeep.
