2006 Triumph Speed Triple Maintenance - Oil filter discoveries - Maintenance Log 22

I noticed my oil is slightly dirty already at only 1400 miles, so I started looking for a cheaper filter and oil. The $18 K&N 204 oil filter is nearly double the price of a $10 WIX 51358 on Amazon. Amazon says the K&N is made in the USA but it says made in Thailand on the box. The filter itself has no sticker or writing on it. The WIX is made in Gastonia North Carolina stamped on the box and filter itself. It's so fast and easy to change oil on this bike; I would much rather run a cheaper filter and oil and change it twice as often. Oil is the lifeblood of your engine and transmission. Keep it clean and your bike will live longer than you.

Hello! Awesome video as always. I just recently changed my oil and filter on my 05. I did not have the service records and am not sure when it was last done, but I will say that the filter was on TIGHT. I had to borrow a filter remover tool to get it off and I’m sure you know it is tight in there. I did end up choosing the KnM filter specifically because it did have the nut on the bottom and I could avoid all that shenanigans. I just last weekend replaced the fork seals and fork oil. Quite the job on the seals, I had to machine some custom tools to get the job done. Since then I’ve been trying to track down some lean running and stuttering/ misfiring idle issues. I am trying to experiment with Tuneboy but no luck so far. Keep up the videos 👍
