How to replace the rear air conditioning lines, or hoses, with accumulator, receiver drier, add PAG 46 oil, evac, evacuate, and recharge r134a, on Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac Escalade, Yukon, and Tahoe. This is pretty much the same process for all years from 1994-2014 model years with auxiliary rear air conditioning.

Great vid on the CORRECT way to do it. I been doing AC repairs for years, started out just watching to get ideas for aftermarket flexible line routing on these cars. Watched all the way through to verify my own procedure. Absolutely on point, true professional right there. 👌

I took the auxiliary ac box off my smashed 09 gmc denali , im trying to find 63 ft of ac lines , im putting it on the side of my bucket trucks bucket , hoping it blows decent air/wind , im not expecting much cool , but i gotta try it , i put one in my jeep cherokee , cause i didnt want to remove the dash ..i use the hevk out of those auxiliary airboxs , there all self contained fan and everything , makes them handi , zero turn lawn mower homemade cab and ac is next , its more involved i gotta mount the ac compressor on that one ..

I recently (07-11-2023) paid $1,747.34 at my local GMC dealer to have lines replaced. 60% labor and 40% parts. Just FYI, wish I would have watched this first!

I bought an Auto Cooling Solutions kit for a 2012 GMC Yukon SLT (standard wheelbase, not the XL). I am not sure if the brackets for the side steps are bigger on the XL or what, but there is no way in HECK these line will fit through the brackets without taking the old lines out. This video makes it look misleadingly easy to get those flexible lines through the brackets without taking the old lines out. Just FYI to anyone else viewing this video.

As an additional follow-up, I also found that separating the refrigerant lines from the rear expansion valve to be quite troublesome. They do not come off anywhere near as easy as described/shown in this video. I am mentioning this not as a criticism to the OP but rather as a warning to others facing this same repair. Check out other videos as well, some of which mention this. The metal stud passing through the aluminum plate is a source of galvanic corrosion, and is not easy to break free. I spent hours and hours on this yesterday, including an entire can of penetrant. I ended up having to use an air hammer to separate it. And in doing so damaged the expansion valve which I now have to replace as well. Again, not criticizing just want to warn others this is not as simple as seems. I consider myself better than average at DIY fixes and have been doing my own auto repairs for years. But this is one I wish I had passed on. As advice to others, I might recommend trying to see if you can get these line's released BEFORE you order your own parts (my lines were almost $400). Now I am in for $400 for lines, and now a new expansion valve and two days of my time. In retrospect the $1k quote I got for the line replacement might have been worth it.

Seems like they would put some rust inhibitor on the lines where they meet the plastic holders. They always seem to rust there first because of moisture between the plastic and metal. Good video. Thank you. Wonder how much it costs to evac a system at a garage? Or perhaps just take the car "out behind the barn" and ... :)
