This race did not end after midnight, it took 4 hours and 36 minutes to complete and no rain was around the track. The latest time at night a race has ended that I know is the Xfinity race at Nashville in June 2004 where it ended at 3:30 in the morning, and then this year's Coke Zero 400 ended at 2:50 to 3 in the morning after getting the green flag at 11:40 PM.

I wanted Kyle Petty to win this race so bad. I wish we saw more underdog finishes like this. That's why I like/dislike the restrictor plate races today. Good chance an unkown can pull it off, yet I don't like that it limits the true power of the cars.

Exactly the reason the plate races are my favorite races myself. Seeing an unknown pull off an upset victory is always awesome to see. It also is greatly beneficial to NASCAR as a whole.

I thought Casey Mears was going to use this race as his first win to potentially launch his career ala Jeff Gordon and Bobby Labonte. Hell, he also had a Hendrick car. But Grubb was no Evernham or Makar.
